And the way you all reacted after Machida/Shogun vs. now? this fight was closer than Machida vs Rua IMO I think most people agree. Almost everyone thought Rua was robbed. Only about half the people think BJ was.

| Ya LA, that was the point of my thread. If BJ was as liked as other champions in this situation I am sure there would be more outcry for a rematch. | |

| I think the fact it was not a super exciting fight, it was two guys throwing shots but not pressing the action, I don't see how BJ lost and I think it all goes back to the judges really having no clue what to be really looking at, did the takedowns seal it, one was a flash and had no control, in a rematch I would say BJ would be motivated and take him apart, ou would think. | |

| I dont think the takedowns played a part at all, I think its clear that cage side Frankie Edgar was ladning the harder cleaner punches | |

| Frankie just doesn't bruise at all imo. BJ handed him like 25 mean counter hooks and landed way more punches overall. Going by the faces you would think Frankie won. The takedowns were crap because he never once held BJ down. BJ won that fight. | |

| Just watched that fight, and I am nearly outraged that there is no outrage. BJ won the first three rounds no question, and Edgar made small cases for the last two, but he didn't do enough to win no fucking title from BJ Penn.
This is a crock of shit. BJ Penn should say he won't fight again for the UFC unless it's immediate rematch with Edgar.
I didn't think Shogun won and he deserved the nod before Edgar.
Credit Edgar for whatever he did, but if BJ hadn't fought Frankies fight(which obviously only happened because BJ has a knee injury) this should have been a blow out.
Injuries/bad gameplan and shitty judges means a vastly inferior fighter is now the UFC champion. 112 was a total disaster for the UFC. Worst card I can remember.

| BJ landed the harder punches. Without the mouse under BJ's eye there would be almost no way to tell he landed punches at all, BJ's head was hardly moved.
What a horrible weekend for the UFC.

| I am very for an immediate rematch. I think a lot will depend on what BJ wants here Haven't heard anything from him yet. If White and Silva weigh a BJ/Edgar 2 vs a Edgar/Maynard 2 I would think the BJ fight is a cinch to make. BJ might want to move on to WW though, you never know. The fight was defiantly close enough to warrant a Instamatic. Even Frankie's corner had him down 2-1 at the end of the third. | |

Yeah sign up for BJPenn.com He thanked everyone and congratulated Edgar in one and then in the next he talked about a book tour and how the UFC hooked up his flight home.

| I thought it was a close fight and hard to judge. Maybe BJ had a knee injury and that's why he didn't take Edgar down but his cornermen obviously thought he could and should take the fight to the ground. Bottom line, neither guy did enough to win the fight...but BJ was gassed for the last round and a half. BJ's lack of good conditioning once again bites him in the ass. That's what allowed Frankie to get the takedown and beat on BJ in round 5.
I don't necessarily disagree with the decision, however, I would've been more comfortable with a draw.

I can understand why disagreeing with me on this issue is something folks would like to keep to themselves though.

| I just find it funny how everyone reacted after the Machida/Shogun fight which was closer than this fight, compared to how some are reacting now.
I've found one place that gave the fight to Frankie, everywhere else scoes it for BJ and of any polls I've seen gave it to BJ.

| The only poll I've seen that scores it for Edgar is currently our open poll, which is a terrible reflection of this website and the users here. Horrible day for the UFC, even worse for Ninjasplace. | |

| No one likes Penn so were not going to defend him. I thought it could've went either way but since Penn and Dana both don't have a problem with it then why should I? |

| Because all but one place scored it for BJ
Dana's on the sauce or something, after Machida.Rua he couldn't shut up about a rematch, and this he looks the other way.
Does Dana not like BJ or something?

| this is just crazy to me that people think it is some kind or "outrage" or "robbery". Just insane. That was an extremely close fight, don't see how anyone can feel that strongly about it. Just crazy to me. | |
