| Hey everyone I havent been on here forever but I came back on here only to realize you guys are way OVERRATING Mousasi like the rest of the MMA sites. How is it that people are buying his hype?? He is a talented young fighter yes. But he had his best win VS Babalu and Soko sucks. Also he was getting schooled by Jacare until he got that lucky upkick. You will see i am willing to bet he will lose to King Mo or Jacare in a rematch if they fought. | |

| Hector Lombard, Denis Kang, Jacare, Melvin Manhoef, Sobral. On a smaller scale Mark Hunt, Dong Bar, Evangalista Santos and Sokoudjou.
He's not fought the Machida's, Shogun's, or Nogueria's of the world yet, but sometimes you look at performance over "how many top 10 wins" he has and you see Mousasi is the complete package. He's a K-1 level striker, He's excellent off his back, dominant on top, excellent composure in the cage and look at the guys he trains with...Fedor and GSP.
The guys Mousasi has beaten are not guys you dominate UNLESS you are an elite fighter and Mousasi has come out of just about every fight in his current 15 fight win streak untouched against good competition.
As for the Jacare fight. Mousasi was not winning but to say he was getting schooled is looking too deep in a fight that was 2 minutes long and there was no damage until the upkick.
Edit: Addition
I think King Mo might beat him...but i also think King Mo is going to be one of the best guys in the world in a year or two...maybe sooner if he picks off Mousasi. I also feel the same for Jacare but i still think Mousasi is a fuckin baddass.
Even Dana White see's Mousasi as an elite talent. I know MMA fans can overrate guys but don't get it twisted, Mousasi is a top level fighter.

| most fighters are overrated depending on matchup(exceptions to penn, gsp,Asilva,Fedor), but he is young winning and has a likeable demeanor so yeah he is high in hte rankings. | |

| Not saying he is not deserving of a top ten ranking he is in the bottom half somewhere maybe 7-10 but to have him 3 on here is crazy plus i consider most people on here true mma fans so i would think you ranked more objectively and not on what could be. He has fought twice at LHW soko and babalu and by those means he only gets maybe a 10 ranking. He has fought twice at HW goodrich and hunt...... yes he has decent wins at MW but we are ranking him in LHW are we not. | |

| Mousasi is not overrated just slightly unproven. Beating King Mo is just another step. He may not beat Hendo, but their is no shame in that. He's a legit threat to the top guys. He's got good hand speed, solid technique on the feet, good off his back, improving clinch, and has that finishers mentality. | |

| His only weakness is his wrestling and greco skills. Soko is very hot and cold, tremendously gifted and hangs with any top ten guy for at least a while. | |

| First off, Muay Soko changed up his camp for that fight and got in with Hendo. It was obvious that he was taking good notes and had picked up a few things. Additionally, even Gegard acknowledged he had tried a few different variations in his training and found they did not improve his performance, in fact weakened it. Wolf is right in saying Soko is hot and cold, sometimes within the same bout, but have a little faith when people rank Mousasi for the reasons they do. He is outstanding, with great striking and a great ground game. If he has any weakness, it is in the clinch, where most fighters are at best average or below. The only fighters in the clinch who are actually good (off the top of my head) at it would be Randy (nobody is better in the clinch) because of his Greco-Roman, Arlovski, BJ, Kenflo, A. Silva, & Marquardt. I am sure there are others, but not many. | |

| Have to admit that I have him at #3... Look at Kings and Farmers posts for many of my thoughts on Gegard. I base my ranking on where "I think" he is. Not on others opinions, other website sheets or the fact that he hasn't beaten another top-5 LHW... Yet. The ONLY guys that really worry me against Gegard are the top wrestlers. But I think his other skills would carry him against most wrestlers, and even on his back his JJ is way underrated in my opinion. Sad thing is that because of where he fights, he won't get to test his skills against true top talent unless he fights Hendo. Muay has his opinion, but apparently the lack of a consensus solid #3-#5 gave him the spot by the board members here. Only time will tell...
Funny... Florian hadn't beaten any "true" top guys going into his fight against BJ, and I don't remember anyone screaming from the rooftops about him being ranked around that 3 spot (Which is where he still sits on this board after BJ ruined him)? Many fighters are under or overrated at times... It's just a matter of whose opinion you are basing it on. And we all know the only opinion that matters is your own.

| He's overrated in the context of his ranking on our board, but certainly a talented young fighter.
And he hasn't beaten a top 10 fighter in any division, let alone top 5.
Also, I've commented that Florian's #3 ranking on here was a bit high, but LW is more scattered then LHW.

| Like i said he is a very good fighter but on this board he is definitely to high on the ratings. Even after all the responses from the supporters of his rankings it all came to what everyone thinks he would do against better opponents and his talents. I am just a little more objective and I do hope to see him in the UFC since he dropped M-1 and prove to us all that he is top 5. Until then he does not belong above proven fighters like Lil Nog, Rampage, Shogun, Machida, or even Rashad for that matter. To me its more of an insult to these guys to rank him with them when they have fought better competition for a longer period of time in their weight class. I am anxious to see how he does against an excellent wrestler. | |
