| http://www.mmamania.com/2010/2/4/1292746/mma-quick-quote-herschel-walker"I’m going get back into the gym and say I’d love to have another fight, and I’m gonna work hard, but I’m leaving it my trainers and coaches’ hands and the fighters at the gym. If they think I’m not ready, they gotta tell me, and I will swallow my pride and not do it. I want to know that I’m still the Herschel of -- that 47-year-old that’s got a 25-year-old way of doing things. If I have lost that, then I don’t think I’ll fight again. My thing is go out and perform at the highest of levels. I’m not there to be a circus act. I want to be a pure fighter." | |

| I heard Rome lay out Walker's response to Jose Canseco. It was not pretty.
Not sure he wants to fight Canseco, but he did say he'd hurt him if he did.

Not sure he wants to fight Canseco, but he did say he'd hurt him if he did. Yeah I read his quote the other day on either mmamania or mmajunkie can't remember. I loved his response. He pretty much said I'm not in here fucking joking around trying to get money and attention, I'm here because I love MMA. Then he also says he would hurt Jose.

| http://www.mmamania.com/2010/2/2/1289842/herschel-walker-if-jose-canseco"Canseco wanted to fight me, and what's strange about it is that what I do is not a circus, not going in there playing trying to make money. My money went to Pastor Evans at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. All my proceeds went there. I didn't get into this to make money, I got into it for the competition. Jose is doing this for the money and my thing is, if he wants to fight me and thinks it's going to be a circus, I will hurt him. This is not a joke, I will hurt him. I don't do things as a joke [or] as entertainment. When we go out there and play a flag football game, that's entertainment, that's having fun. But this MMA fighting is real, you can get hurt and he doesn't understand this. I'm doing this as a fighter, not as a joke." | |

| Walker wants the fight. He's selling it. Coker denied he is interested but all it would take for him to change his mind is a quick media tour by Jose and a couple youtube videos talking shit. | |

| I don't think Walker wants this fight, it would just go against everything he is trying to say right about being in the sport for the right reasons. Fighting Jose would kind of throw all that out the window wouldn't it? Even beating the shit out of Jose doesn't do any good IMO. | |

| What does fighting Greg Nuggie prove? He is in this for charity right? What fight would be bigger, a Jose fight or a fight against Yohan Banks or Jason Guida? What does getting destroyed by Bobby Lashley or Mike Kyle prove?
Jose is a black belt too ya know. If he didn't want the fight he wouldn't have talked that much shit. It looks at first like he doesn't want it, on the contrary, I think he is selling it.

The difference is the freak factor. Fighting Jose turns it into a freakshow. Fighting a no name MMA fighter doesn't have the freakshow factor. As far as people are concerned he is just a low level pro MMA fighter. Jose is a over the top, over the hill grease ball former pro athlete. Beating a no name is not the same as beating a money hungry POS like Jose.

| Ya, but this is all about the profile of these fights. This is fight promotion. I don't totally buy Walker's mild mannered respectful martial artist schtick. | |

Call me a sucker because I buy it. I don't think he takes a "circus fight" to borrow a word from Hershel himself. He may have me fooled but he is saying the right things and doing the right things.

Seems like he's trying to take it serious... Beating a can who really wants to be a MMAer is a first step that all fighters have taken. Beating up on a roided out former baseballer and former reality show freak who gets his ass kicked in celebrity boxing matches by Vai Sikahema and Danny Bonaduce does nothing to aid the legitamacy of his quest... Regardless of the money and where it goes. I still think it's a bit of a joke (Less so now), but he's far more respectable than Canseco could ever dream of being.

| Yes. Sign me up for all freakshows.
I watched TUF specifically for Kimbo and have followed his MMA career since it started. Same with Green Ranger. Same with Japanese freakshows.

| Jose would be cool. And imo a much more respectable opponent then nagy. That guy was pathetic. Walker getting on his high horse and looking down on anyone is a little silly. | |
