| What weight do u think Penn should show up at? If he comes in at over 165 he'd be 2 slow and gas easier but can he afford to come in 2 light? What weight would u come in at if u were Penn? |

| Does it really matter? He's not gonna beat GSP, maybe a third time will convince him I guess. | |

| problem is gsp walks in at 185 or 190 these days. I think bj's gas tank is in better shape now and would give it a better run but at the end of the day bj doesnt have shit for gsp. | |

I don't even think he would give it a better run at this point. It wouldn't be difficult for GSP to find motivation for another match with BJ. I think if they fought again BJ would be lucky that GSP is a nice guy, otherwise he might not walk out of the cage under his own power.

| Ok, here's the problem with a 3rd fight here. Penn's cardio wasn't necessarily his issue in the fight last year. It was his lack of muscle stamina. They're different things. GSP would just wear on BJ just like he did last time. There's no size BJ can come in at that he can be competitive. He doesn't have the body for WW. He doesn't have the strength. He hardly has a speed advantage against GSP. He can't mount any significant offense standing because he's so easily taken down by GSP. On the ground, he's not strong enough to keep GSP in his guard. It's just not competitive. Besides, BJ will probably have to get through someone like Alves or Fitch to get to GSP, and I don't see that working out for him either. He should just stay at lw and dominate for as long as he can. | |

+1 Haha, thanks. I think it's one of the most important things to remember about some fighters gassing. Sometimes it's not truly a cardio issue.

| While BJ Penn would beat the snot out of other top welters like Alves and Fitch, there is no way he could handle GSP's size a third time around.
I disagree that GSP would need motivation for this though.

| I'm telling you guys BJ will beat up everyone Dana puts in front of him LW or WW untill he gets another fight with GSP. And I think he's gonna beat him. It's all good I know you guys think I'm crazy but I believe he can do it. | |

| What's with all this love for BJ at WW? He hasn't beaten a relevant welterweight in over 5 years. I'm sorry, but I can't even imagine a way he'd beat Thiago Alves. I think Fitch, Koscheck, and Hughes would take BJ down and grind out a win. He's simply not big enough to handle the bigger wrestlers. | |

Come on, did you SEE the last fight BJ had with GSP??? The only reason to think BJ has a chance is blatant homerism, which is fine I suppose, but not at all realistic.

| MMAEYES, BJ is one of my favorites, but I'm convinced he can't beat GSP. He just can't do anything to prevent takedowns against GSP. Once they're on the ground, GSP will just keep controlling and advancing his position, hence neutralizing BJ's strength(Jiu-Jitsu).
And, Chorky, Hughes would take BJ down and grind out a win? I don't think so, and I'd much rather watch Hughes vs. Penn 3 than GSP vs Penn 3.

Yeah Bigs I watched about 4 times trying to accept that the greese didn't play a factor but I just can't see how it didn't. Now if I act like that didn't happen I can say well GSP tried for all of round one to take BJ down and couldn't do it. It wasn't untill BJ's cardio gave in or GSP wore him down(how ever you want to say it) that BJ was getting taken down. I argue that BJ's much improved cardio will allow him to withstand the takedown for even longer giving him a better chance to win. I understand you disagree with my opinion but it's not unrealistic. It's not like I said BJ would beat Fedor for gods sake.

| I think BJ will fight the winner of Hughes/Gracie then another WW I would like it to be Kos or Fitch. Then he'll fight GSP if GSP hasn't moved up by that time. | |

| just saw gsp wrestling with nate m. and looks like gsp had the upper hand against a bigger nate so that seals the deal for me and gsp would do fine in the mw division. | |

I just watched that too. They both looked great. I was surprised at Nate's quickness in a scramble.

| Everyone points to BJ Penn's beatdown at the hands of GSP as the reason he is too small for WW.
Find me a non-Serra WW that did any better against GSP anywhere close to recently?

Find me a non-Serra WW that did any better against GSP anywhere close to recently? GSP's skills were too much for Fitch and Alves, but he didn't seem to be too big for them to do anything. They just couldn't handle his quickness. BJ Penn was just too easily controlled. And I'm not saying BJ is too small to fight at WW because of the GSP fight. I'm just saying he's too small to fight at WW.

Find me a non-Serra WW that did any better against GSP anywhere close to recently? Kos and Fitch both did better than BJ. BJ quit after round 4 because he had the piss beat out of him mercilessly. You're right, no one has done an exceptional job challenging GSP...that won't happen until he moves to MW, but BJ brought nothing to the table in that fight.

| Wolf, what exactly do you mean when you say BJ would run over Alves? I would love to see that fight personally. Do you think it would mirror Sanchez/Sherk in terms of being a one sided ass beating on the feet? | |
