| http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2010/1/25/1269721/jay-hieron-vs-joe-riggs-to-air Great news coming from sherdog.com: A welterweight bout between Jay Hieron and Joe Riggs will air on a live stream at EASports.com in conjunction with Strikeforce "Miami" this Saturday at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. The single bout will broadcast live on EA Sport’s MMA page at 9:05 p.m. EST/6:05 p.m. PST. "It’s definitely one of those fights that deserved to be aired somewhere, so we’re glad to get the opportunity to do this," Strikeforce’s Director of Communications Mike Afromowitz said | |

| 1)still an abysmal situation as 2 noobs fight a couple nobodies on showtime while a probable title elimination fight gets stuck on the website of another company.
2)having said that, a wedding with EA sports is ideal for strikeforce, and I'm glad we will be able to see this fight live.

| I'm trying to figure out why they are promoting a game thats not due out for another year. I guess they are trying to get as much hype as possible because the game is likely to suck like FNR4 did. Apparently its based off the same engine and the same EA crew is making it. | |

| Strikeforce doesn't owe us to promote every fight between two 10-20 range guys in a non title WW fight over two guys that create buzz and name recognition. Get over it. | |

| Yea I'm tired of hearing about how these guys should be on the main card. Ive seen these 2 get their ass whooped enough and could even care less about that fight. I've wanna see what Lashley and Walker can do. Not to mention it would be a HUGE mistake for Strikeforce to put either of these 2 on the main card instead of Lashley or Walker. | |

well they are probably going to give the winner of this fight the 1st crack at the WW belt. So why not find a way to squeeze your #1 contender fight on the card to give them some recognition?

These are 2 title contenders This is a big fight for SF. +1. And the problem is not that this very legit fight is getting squeezed cause they want to throw one unproven big name fighter vs complete nobody on the card, but they want to throw 2 unproven big name fighter vs complete nobodies on the card. and one of those unproven big name fighters is 47. They could have easily put each of these guys on different cards and the problem would have been averted. This situation is very worthy of criticism.

Now he is undercard to matches with external curiosity while the guy he was supposed to title match is on the same card headlining against another fighter. Makes money sense for them to have Lashley and Walker as the actual main events over Diaz / Zamz and all but as an MMA fan I gotta think their matches are gonna be junk quality. Money Logic unfortunatly > Fight logic.

This situation is very worthy of criticism. But If they did that they really hurt the drawing power of the card. Your talking about removing the co or main event and replacing it with 2 guys that arent main event caliber. Unfortunately Walker & Lashley are bigger draws than Hieron or Riggs ever were or ever will be. Right now the Strike force title contention doesnt hold much weight and the only reason Riggs is even considered is because they dont have much dept at WW. If it were Noons or Diaz or somebody like that I would have a problem with it but Riggs??? lol, Hieron is decent but the card is more appealing with out them. JMO Main card: Nick Diaz vs. Marius Zaromskis Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos vs. Marloes Coenen Melvin Manhoef vs. Robbie Lawler Herschel Walker vs. Greg Nagy Bobby Lashley vs. Wes Sims Preliminary card: Jay Hieron vs. Joe Riggs Pablo Alfonso vs. Marcos da Matta Michael Byrnes Jr. vs. Dave Zitanick Sabah Homasi vs. John Kelly Craig Oxley vs. David Gomez Ryan Keenan vs. Hayder Hassan

Main card: Nick Diaz vs. Marius Zaromskis Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos vs. Marloes Coenen Melvin Manhoef vs. Robbie Lawler Herschel Walker vs. Greg Nagy Bobby Lashley vs. Wes Sims
Preliminary card: Jay Hieron vs. Joe Riggs Pablo Alfonso vs. Marcos da Matta Michael Byrnes Jr. vs. Dave Zitanick Sabah Homasi vs. John Kelly Craig Oxley vs. David Gomez Ryan Keenan vs. Hayder Hassan Yeah Rigg's is a UFC veteran, has a win over the guy fighting for the title that night, is 32-10 overall in his career, is riding a 4 fight win streak, and he's 27 yrs old. Compare that to Herschel, or Lashley, or either of their pathetic opponents(more-so Nagy), and Riggs is MMA royalty. I understand the drawing power of Lashely and Herschel, I'm not against putting either guy on TV, but why have them both on the same card? It certainly gives the card a circus like feel(and cyborg brutalizing this other chick will help further that notion), and it squeezes a good fight. why any real MMA fan would rather watch Herschel vs whomever is beyond me. the card is otherwise very good, but this just sticks in my craw.

| Just let it go. Some can't see beyond what is immediately in front of them. Strikeforce chooses survival and finacial security, setting themselves up to put on bigger and better fights long term by grabbing viewers now, but to capt and others all they see is two top 20 WWs fighting on an undercard.
How much press has this fight gotten? How much press has Lashley and Walker gotten? Strikeforce are still trying to change the sport from Ultimate Fighting to MMA. I say let them. It's not like these fights will the norm in the future.
Prisoners of the moment? No concept of context? Narrow vision? Morons? Strikeforce hater?

Well I've always been a fan of the freak shows. I loved when Pride did it and wish UFC would put James Toney in there. They are just really intriguing to me and I've already seen Joe Riggs plenty of times. In addition I'm from GA so I'm really pumped for Walker.

You be the judge. 1)I've been pro SF. I've even argued for the validity of having Walker on a big card. Heck I was and still am pro Kimbo. 2)I not sure what being a prisoner of the moment entails in this situation. 3)My beef has been this: Why put 2 freak show fights on one card while relagating what looks to be an elimanation bout to an internet feed. It's a very legit criticism. And if you want to let it go, feel free.

Good point, Riggs is probably not on a lot of lists, but talent wise he is well within that pool. You are way too literal with rankings and judge fighters specifically off that too often.

| You can think of two recently occasions where it can be spun to appear like I judge fighters off rankings, this and my lack of interest in Villasenor.
Reality, I simply responded to you saying this was a fight netween 2 top 20 WW's.
Just fucking around I thought of 30 better WW's then Riggs.
