| Hector Lombard decides to drop down to welterweight, wants to fight Nate Marquardt next Hector Lombard is officially moving down to welterweight. The former Bellator middleweight champion confirmed to FUEL TV's "UFC Tonight" on Tuesday that his next fight will take place at 170 pounds. Lombard said he has been running/walking approximately 12 miles a day, as well as dieting a lot. As a result, he now walks around at 192 pounds, while he used to walk around at 220 pounds. The 35-year-old added he never felt like he needed to move down to welterweight, but he knew the UFC brass really wanted him to fight at a lower weight class, so he'll be making the cut for them. He hopes to make his welterweight debut in the fall against Nate Marquardt. When asked about fighting Lombard, Marquardt, who doesn't have his next fight booked yet, replied, "Sure, why not?" Lombard (32-4-1, 1 NC) is 1-2 inside the Octagon so far. He most recently lost to Yushin Okami via split decision in March. http://www.mmafighting.com/2013/6/19/4444618/hector-lombard-decides-to-drop-down-to-welterweight-wants-to-fight | |
