illegal knee

was it just me, or did Spider hit Chael with an illegal knee. He was a downed opponent imo. I thought it was weird that nobody mentioned it either as being close. Cover up! 1st Hathaway vs Diego and now this. Bob Arum has definately invested in Zuffa stock.

He hit him in the chest which is legal.

It was a knee to the body.

Not surprised by short grabbing or the questionable knee, silva was fired up but yes lavigne really let everything go . Think the short grabbing was as clear as if he had held the fence

You're shocked they didnt make a big deal out of it? After UFC and the fans swept GSP's grease bath under the rug? That was all over his body, during the fight, and he didnt get caught until afterwards. Especially considering Penn was trying to work rubber guard much of the fight and his leg kept slipping off. Must be because it's BJ Penn getting screwed. Also, they didnt catch GSP until after. Anderson just got the vaseline that was already rubbed into his face and rubbed it on his shoulders and such...Yves caught it and wiped it down. Didnt appear to play a factor in round one and if it were to play a factor it would have worked against Anderson as he would have not been able to hold on Chael as easily...but it was resolved before the fight started. If GSP is no cause for a legit uproar and BJ was just labled a crybaby, then no way should anybody complain about Anderson wiping a small amount of vaseline which was already rubbed in and then having it promptly wiped off before a fight started.

I've seen Anderson do that a few times. Commissions never raised an issue until last night.

As for the shorts grabbing, yes..blatant. I saw him do it twice. Once on a break and i forgot what was going on the second time. I don't think either played a part in Chael failing to get the takedown in round 2 and Chael lost because he tried a spinning back fist and fell on his ass. Anderson always takes advantage of stupid mistakes.

The knee was close, and it just shows how good Silva is, pinpoint accuracy with anything he throws, I did think the short grab allowed him to hit Chael with a few punches that possibly may have stunned Chael, but when it comes down to it, it is a fight and shit does happen

The knee might of found some face somewhere, but the blow was absorbed by the chest I think. I'd be surprised if Silva was not short grabbing, I think a lot of guys do.

It does happen a lot..but people tend to be very selective of when they want to rage about it.

I remember Rashad pretty much saved himself from getting finished by Rampage by pulling himself off his back by tugging on Page's shorts.

I had a customer pop in when i posted this earlier. The night Diego git beat i was drinking and was dead set in that night being fixed. I've watched it since then and know i was wrong. I just make a joke of it now. I do however think the fight shoulda been stopped and Silva shoulda got a warning. I was in awe when he started greasing also. He did it like it was all good.

Illegal Knee?

Look if Silva wanted to knee Sonnen in the face then he would of and really hurt him a lot worse then the knee to the chest did. He aimed low and hit on target, Sonnen even brought his face down, reactionary probably, and the meat of the blow is still at the impact point, the knee, not the top of the thigh. If he had attempted to throw it at his face he would of aimed higher because Sonnen's face was a few inches higher when he approached with the strike.

Looks like a knee to the face to me. It also looks illegal.

The knee is a non issue. Or it should be.

A) The following acts constitute fouls in a contest or exhibition of mixed martial arts and may result in penalties, at the discretion of the referee, if committed:

17) Kneeing the head of a grounded opponent


Look at the picture. Watch the fight replay again. Look at the .gif. Ask your auntie. Ask Chale. That knee hits the chest. There is no rule that describes the top of a thigh making contact to the face when a knee the chest is thrown and landed. It is at the discretion of the referee as to weather or not a kick or knee constitutes a penalty and the ref was in the perfect position and saw it go down and made the correct call.

Just because you bring rules and big ol words out doesn't mean it ain't illegal.
