Nick Penner vs. Tom DeBlass OFF, Penner hurt

A light heavyweight bout between Nick Penner (11-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Tom DeBlass (7-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has been scratched from the lineup at UFC on FUEL TV 4.

An injury to Penner forced him off the card, and UFC officials elected to scrap the fight altogether. "UFC Tonight," FUEL TV's weekly UFC news magazine show, announced the news Tuesday night.

UFC on FUEL TV 4 takes place July 11 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., with a main event between middleweight contenders Mark Munoz (12-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) and Chris Weidman (8-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC).

The night's main card will air on FUEL TV. Preliminary-card fights will stream live at the UFC's Facebook page.

Penner made his UFC debut at UFC on FX 2 in Australia, where he suffered a TKO loss to Anthony Perosh with one second left in the first round. Before signing with the UFC, he put together an eight-fight win streak that included six stoppages.

DeBlass now will have to wait to go after his first win in the promotion. He made a short-notice UFC debut in April, but dropped a majority decision to Cyrille Diabate at UFC on FUEL TV 2 in Sweden. That loss was the first of his career after starting 7-0 under the Ring of Combat banner.

I guess this allows Tom to make his move to MW, hope he gets a fight soon. Maybe they will keep him on call as a injury replacement? Would make sense since they aren't giving him a new opponent.

Talked to him today, his next fight will be at 185. He's upset that the fight was canceled but he looks at it as everything happens for a reason.

That's good. I have a feeling he could get a call to step in if someone else catches this injury bug. They like to call up fighters who are already in camp. Just a feeling I get from this.
