Tom DeBlass Moving Down to Middleweight

Tom DeBlass has been a fighter known for stepping up to tough challenges.
Whether it was at light heavyweight or even heavyweight, DeBlass has
always been willing to run right at the toughest obstacles, even for his
UFC debut.

When the UFC came calling and asking DeBlass to step in on just a
week’s notice to face Cyrille Diabate at UFC on Fuel 2 in April, he
gladly accepted. While he did come up short in his debut, DeBlass still
showed a lot of heart and skill even in defeat.

Well now DeBlass’ toughness is going to succumb to what’s best for him.

The Ricardo Almeida black belt has decided to drop down to the middleweight division for his next fight in the UFC.

“After being asked by everyone who is close to me time and time
again, it’s official. My next fight will be at 185lbs,” DeBlass wrote
on Twitter on Tuesday.

The New Jersey based fighter hasn’t been booked yet for his next bout
in the Octagon, but when he does it will be as a middleweight.

Prior to his loss to Diabate in Sweden, DeBlass was 7-0 as a professional fighter including four wins by submission or TKO.

His body type seemed much more suited for MW. Give him someone like Jared Hamman or Court McGee.

I've been busy at work and not online that much. Haven't been to train in a couple of weeks, been doing alot with the kids.


He talked about dropping down before signing with the UFC. 2 days after his fight in Sweden he said he was going to go down to MW.


It's a good weight class for him, he'll be fighting guys much more around his size.

How does he feel about Paul Harris' BJJ?

His next fight will be at 205 again. The UFC asked him to stay at 205 for another fight on July 11th.

Natal who usually has garbage cardio outside the first 4 mins. Winnable fight

Natal is also on the card but not his opponent. They are both under the Dominance MMA Management team, that's who announced both of them being on the card.

I would think so. Taking a short notice fight and then staying at a higher weight when he was planning to go lower should make him safe.

They are going to give him Rampage on the undercard.

With the new booking, the UFC on FUEL TV 4 lineup now includes:

Mark Munoz vs. Chris Weidman
James Te Huna vs. Brandon Vera*
Rafael Natal vs. TBA*
Tom DeBlass vs. TBA*

Vera gonna get wrecked again.

Indeed Te Huna is maybe the hardest puncher in the divison not named Dan Henderson.
