With loads of talent, a red-hot ring record (39-0-1, 29 KOs), a head of red hair to match, and a healthy sprinkling of freckles and charisma, Canelo Alvarez has captivated a nation since turning pro in 2005. He has also shown a willingness to fight on the big stage and will be putting his 154-pound title on the line for the fourth time when he squares off with future Hall of Famer Sugar Shane Mosley (46-7-1, 39 KOs) on Saturday, May 5 in Las Vegas. The date coincides with the Mexican holiday Cinco de Mayo, historically one of boxing’s most popular weekends.
“Alvarez vs. Mosley” will be part of the blockbuster “Mayweather vs. Cotto” boxing card that takes place Saturday, May 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View® beginning at 9:00 p.m. (ET)/6:00 p.m. (PT).
