| Look, i understand how impressive it is that Randy can still even fight, let alone take on fighters more than 10 years younger than him. But i have to say i found the fight boring mostly because Randy could not take Vera down. I was really impressed with Vera's takedown defense and he hurt Randy really bad with those body kicks. I feel like if he could have just seperated more and kept pressuring Randy with strikes he could have easily won that decision. Plus he even took Randy down!
All i know is that i believe Brandon vera has alot more big fights at 205 in his future than Randy does. I think Vera is a good enough striker to go toe to toe with anyone at 205 and his takedown defense from what i've seen is great. Im interested to see whats next for him.

| Randy considering he is 46 years old and really shouldn't even be competitive against young fighters at this time in his career. It's just amazing. I believe he should fight Coleman or Tito if he wins and go off into the sunset
Vera of course has more upside, but I really don't see him beating any of the elite at 205 any time soon. I really don't think Vera is a better striker than Machida or Shogun. The winner of Jones vs Hamill would be a good fight for him.

| i'm impressed with neither. vera for not putting a 46 year old away when he clearly had the upper hand. and randy for winning by body checking vera all night. | |

| Easily Randy. There was nothing to be impressed by with Vera. Atleast Randy has the 46 years old thing going for him. I almost want to see Tito beat Forrest now to see Couture-Tito II with a Randy win followed by retirement | |

| I was impressed with Randy, because I am a fan of his true, but because his strategy was working. As the fight dragged on though, it became obvious to me that Randy had the better conditioning too. Vera's hands slowly started dropping lower and lower while Randy's were right where they should be. If the ref hadn't stopped and restarted, Randy would have eventually worn down Vera and then it would've been some old school GNP. | |

| Vera
He stopped the takedowns from Randy and then took Randy down easily the first time he tried.
Couture being competitive is not really impressive anymore its just expected.

We did not watch the announcement of the decision so until I read this thread I've been thinking that Vera won that fight.

| I have to agree that neither was impressive. Randy is not half the wrestler he used to be (not his fault, just father time catching up), and really has no other ways to win fights at this stage of his career. Now, Vera is a good wrestler, and because of that, was able to stay on his feet and even get a takedown, but never was able to really seperate from the clinch and utilize his kickboxing advantage. He demonstrated that he could hurt Randy from a distance but was unable to keep the fight at that distance consistently, which is a huge letdown against a 46 year old who is not exactly world class anymore in wrestling, and hasnt been for years. Vera should have won the fight decisively, and failed to do so. I scored the fight even (round 1 - 10/9 for Randy, round 2 - 10/8 for Vera, and round 3 - 10/9 for Randy), but Vera disappointed me more then Randy. | |

| I was more unimpressed with Vera than anything. That's the word I would use to sum up Vera's career to this point: unimpressive.
Sure, his potential is impressive but that's all he is, unrealized potential.
Randy did what he had to do. He would've been stupid to stand and take kicks to the body from Vera. Credit him for staying out of trouble. Vera couldn't do shit to Randy, he just let Randy hug him on the cage. Couldn't keep distance, couldn't impose his will...nothing out of the ordinary for him.
Hey, maybe Joe Silva will give Vera a rematch with Mike Pat.

| Neither... Particularly unimpressed by Vera for not being able to get the upper hand for more than 1 minute during the fight, then being pissed that he didn't get the decision. When you're fighting a 46 year old legend, do you really think a couple of body kicks and a takedown are enough when you spend 14 minutes with your back against the cage?... C'mon... | |
