| Why not? I think Couture takes it easily with the clinch game & GnP, but Vera's quickness & MT might make it interesting. | |

| I think most just assume that Randy will be fighting big names until he retires. Most wanted to see someone like a Tito for his next fight. But stylistically I don't think this is a bad fight at all. It's going to be tough to call for me as I think Randy's age is really starting to show in his fights. | |

| Vera should win easily, but since he always manages to disappoint he'll probably lose.
Then Randy will get another title shot, and someone's gonna end his career.

Vera has a pretty refined greco game himself, since that is the style of wrestling he came from. He has combined that with muay thai. I see this as a very hard fight for a 46 year old man of any skillset, but this is a hard fight for Couture especially given his background and game plans.. Vera is for real imo.

Speed, length, greco background and great clinch defense. Randy won't be able to hit him in any standing phase of the fight enough imo. Randy should be able to get him down from time to time since he imo maybe the best wrestler in MMA, but Vera has good takedown defense and even one or two stuffs could be enough to end Couture's night. If Couture fights as he usually does he gets stopped viciously.

Ben Gordon would school MJ in one on one these days though, wouldn't he? Doubtful. Probably could win a game of horse, though.

If Couture fights as he usually does he gets stopped viciously. At age 46, you still think Couture is the best wrestler in mma? Personally, I think his wrestling has diminished a bit, and his inability to keep Nog against the cage or even initiate clinches was a sign of it. Currently, I think the best wrestler in mma is GSP. As to the fight with Vera, I think Vera has the advantage in the standup and has the tools to win this fight. I agree with you, despite his losses, Vera is very talented and could be a champion one day. The only thing Vera lacks, which Randy has more then anyone, is a winners mindset. Despite Vera's advantages in this fight, I can see Randy mentally breaking him and winning the fight. Then again, I can see Vera landing a big shot and winning as well.
