Brandon Vera has been released from his Zuffa contract following his third straight loss inside the Octagon, a UFC 125: "Resolution" unanimous decision defeat to Brazilian wrecking ball Thiago Silva back on Jan. 1 in Las Vegas.

Five Ounces of Pain brought word of the light heavyweight's expected release earlier today.

he signed his contract at just the right time, got paid very well for his time in the UFC.

I would kind of like him to return to HW. Just be a smaller HW like he was.

He deserved the cut but this is one guy that I'd actually like to see SF pick up even though the UFC just cut him. You could make entertaining matches with him and pretty much everyone in their LHW division

If Vera went to SF I'd drop him like this in their LHW rankings

He's a dangerous striker, but he finds a way to look bad all the time.

he gave silva fits on the feet but what ever happened to his "greco", he got thrown around and controlled in each of his last 3 fights

Vera will have job real soon. Vera needs to get off the trx machine and get in the ring and spar and pick up some fucking weights. Go to Thailand for a few months and get your fire back.

why go to thailand, he needs to go to a good wrestling camp and work on his take down D or at least work on getting back to his feet

It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world but it seems like a pretty big step down. Do they even have anybody signed for it besides Gracie right now?

But I like that matchup for Vera, he can hand with Kyle standing, but that's a fight where his greco would come into play.

Vera needs to get his shit together if he wants to fight. I have continued to be disappointed in his ground game, his clinch work is at best average, and though he looks good on his feet he doesn't press the pace and gets beat up. He needs to go train with Jackson or something, a place that will force him to develop.
