New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has been suspended for one year and the Saints will lose their second round pick in 2012 and '13 and pay $500,000 as a result of the NFL's bounty investigation, the league announced Wednesday.

Former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who orchestrated the program, has been suspended indefinitely. Team general manager Mickey Loomis also faces an eight-game suspension and a $500,000 fine.

I'm just surprised he got that long of a suspension. I guess they really wanted to send a message.

A bit harsh, but in the Joe Paterno age of the head coach being the most responsible for the acts of others..not shocking.

i was a bit suprised at the severity of the punishments at first but i suppose with all these law suits coming from left, right and centre the NFL couldn't afford to piss about with this one.

it's difficult to argue with, it's a rough enough sport as it is without players deliberately going out to cause injury to other plyers

I guess there is some audio out there now that started hitting the web last night. 12 min long video, atleast most of it is suppose to be from a pregame speech against the 49ers. Greg Williams talks about paying fines for hitting certain players in the head like Smith and Gore. Also talks about trying to tear Crabtrees ACL. Tells his players to hit the head as much as possible. Hit people out of bounds. Hit people in the head in a pile as much as possible. Suppose to be some fucked up shit.
