Yeah but if you want to play that game, Magic never won a title without Kareem. But Magic was always the man. But let's not pretend like he didn't have some very good talent around him. Both also had great coaches. IF you are going to penalize Kobe for playing with Shaq, you have to atleast mention that Magic never won without Kareem. Kobe went on to win even after Shaq. I'm not arguing that point at all. What I'm saying is that Kobe wasn't even the best player on those teams and wasn't responsible for the titles. Kobe was routinely the best player on those teams in the Western Conference series and then Shaq would dominate in the Finals because there wasn't one decent big man in the entire Eastern Conference

| I hate Kobe, but Freak acts like Kobe was the 6th man coming off the bench or something. How can he not be somewhat responsible for those titles? Shaq gets 100% responsibility for those titles? I don't remember Shaq winning any rings without an All NBA player by his side. | |

| Kobe averaged 29.4 pts, 7.3 rbs, and 6.1 assts in the '01 playoffs and some monster games on the road against the Kings in the WCF. He was a stud for sure | |

| Yeah because that's what I said Shaq was easily the most dominate NBA player in those days and if you had traded Kobe with basically any all-star SG of that time they still would've won the title. If you had traded Shaq with anyone else they wouldn't have. |

| That's just meaningless speculation. Kobe was the key reason they advanced past Sacramento. Without him the Kings would've had a title. Shit, they probably should've had one anyway | |

Kareem won a league MVP and Finals MVP playing with Magic, James Worthy also won a Finals MVP playing with Magic. That 80's Lakers team is one of the most stacked teams you'll ever see. I watched Magic's 42, 15 and 7 Finals game the other day where Kareem is hurt, I forgot Wilkes scored 38 and 10 in that game too. The point is, no knock on Magic, I have him or Kareem #2 all-time currently, but god damn he had some teammates. Now on Kobe/Shaq, see when I here comments like this I don't believe the person actually watched the games back then. Cause yeah Shaq was the man in the Finals, he was such a huge mismatch for the East he was gonna win MVP everytime. But Kobe owned the West, Shaq wouldn't even have been in the finals without Kobe, see game 7 against Portland, see the Spurs series, see the Kings series....

If you have the time, and can find the videos, go back and watch every game of their Title runs and then come back. Also, aside from Kobe being 1A on the 3-Peat team, a lot of people thought he was the second best player in the league back then... And bro, acting like Kobe wasn't reasonable for the Titles cause he didn't win Finals MVP is ridiculous? yes but no, asinine? yes as well but no, dumb? correct sir. Shaq wins NO Titles in that 3-Peat without Kobe, and to act like replacing Kobe with any solid SG gets it done makes me think you didn't watch BB back then, not trying to to mean, but come on son..

| Seperate but related topic, I think Kobe breaks Kareem's all-time scoring Title too at some point further adding to his resume. I've checked the numbers, and basically Kobe needs to play 4 more seasons averaging 26.5 points a game (roughly) and obviously not missing much time to pass him. If he plays 5 seasons it's a lock, and honestly I think Kobe might play till he's 40 and destory Kareem's total, I can see Kobe hitting 40K if he wants to. | |
