Sean McCorkle signs with Bellator

Former UFC heavyweight Sean McCorkle (13-2) will make his Bellator debut in 2012.




The fighter confirmed his Bellator signing to CageReligion.com on Wednesday, including that the terms are for a one-fight contract with the Chicago-based promotion.




Though no date for the heavyweight's debut has been announced, Matt Erickson of The Northwest Indiana Times reported on Wednesday that McCorkle will face Richard White at
the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana on March 9. The
yet-unannounced Bellator event will be televised and is rumored to be
headlined by a featherweight title clash between reigning champion Joe Warren and Season Four Tournament winner Pat Curran.




The 6'7, 265-pound heavyweight is currently riding a three-fight win
streak and remains unbeaten since his UFC release last year. All three
of McCorkle's recent victories came by way of submission, marking his
12th stoppage out of thirteen professional wins.

Dude had 3 fights scheduled in 3 months? Are some of these organizations using his name? "former UFC fighter..." looks good on your card.

Should be a good fit for him, but I see him getting KO'd frequently.

The 265 cut is brutal for him. That's a big problem

I have a hard time believing he will actually be in all these fights listed. More power to him though if he is.

A new pair of matchups is set for Bellator's season-six debut as Anthony Gomez (5-1 MMA, 0-0 BFC) faces Travis Wiuff (65-14 MMA, 1-0 BFC) in a light-heavyweight contest and Sean McCorkle (15-2 MMA, 0-0 BFC) meets Richard White (15-12 MMA, 0-0 BFC) in a super-heavyweight bout.

Bellator officials today confirmed the matchups with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

Both preliminary-card fights are scheduled for Bellator 60, which takes place March 9 at The Venue at Horseshoe Hammond in Hammond, Ind.

The night's main card, which includes featherweight champ Joe Warren vs. Pat Curran, airs on MTV2 (and in high-definition on EPIX), and prelims stream on Spike TV. Bellator 60 serves as the season-opening show for Bellator's 12-week sixth season.
