OWS member throws smoke bomb at White House

Imagine what kind of article would have been written about this if the smoke bomb was thrown by a Tea Party member. Do you really think it would read the same way and become less about the smoke bomb and more about the First Lady's birthday? If a Tea Party member threw it, the article would be about how extremists on the right are a threat to national security and how the Tea Party is a radical organization. When an Occupy protestor throws it, they focus on the first lady's birthday....think about that.

Regardless of the article, it's pretty hard to say that is a false statement. OWS are definitely portrayed by the media to be something they just aren't.

i don't think ows has been painted as a peaceful group of citizens. At the same time i get what you are saying. Like it or not i guess this has become a football game too, OWS is far left socialists and The Tea Party, or more accurately what used to be the Tea Party, is far right anti-government. Obviously the later gets shit on much more when you have a socialist as president.

I think they were completely painted as something they weren't, one thing being peaceful. Other than that I totally agree.

well the movement as a whole is mostly peaceful. I wish the Tea Party could stay true to it's grassroots founding instead of being taken over by establishment neo-cons.

We can no longer just say "the media". There is the media that holds a fairly neutral, yet slightly liberal bent, and then there is the far right sect of the media.

Im sure the far right sect of the meida is all over this smoke bomb thing(and of coarse complaining that the liberal sect is not covering it).
