| would dana then have pushed for a spider vs Shogun matchup next? Or would he have wanted the immediate rematch anyway's?
And would spider agree to that matchup or would he have insisted on his bff getting the rematch?

| I think Dana would love to see Silva fight for the title at LHW, especially with Rampage gone for the time being. This rematch between Shogun and Lyoto is really a blessing in disquise for them because they get another huge main event title fight that they weren't expecting. | |

| If Shogun had won, then there would still be an immediate rematch. | |

I don't know about that. You see, 99% of the non jock swinging crowd thought Rua did win, including Dana White. Three morons in a chair at cage side and a small handful of people that can't grasp exactly what they were seeing are in the HUGE minority that saw Machida winning that fight. The huge uprising means instant rematch... Especially when the President of the org. agreed with the masses.

I would have wanted an immediate rematch if shogun got the decesion, but I dont think it would have happened .. and I kinda feel bad for shogun cuz he probably won't ever hold the lhw belt now..

| The more I think about it the less reason I see for a immediate rematch IF Shogun won.
I'd rather have someone Cane, Lil Nog, Rashad, Vera,, Couture, Forrest, Tito, or Thiago if they win their fights plus 1 more.

| If Shogan won then I think Couture would be lined up for a title shot if he's successful next month.
Silva needs to get by Belfort and Hendo vs Nate winner before he'll be given freedom to experiment again. |

| No one I have talked to would have been clammoring for a rematch if the decision had gone correctly. Instant rematches are given for bad decisions and "No Contsests" under certain circumstances. If this decision was given to Rua, about 100 Machida fans would be the only ones up in arms. | |

| Are we just assuming Anderson beats Vitor without any complications? That fight is already scheduled so I think a rematch would be more likely then Shogun vs Spider. Unless Spider just quickly ran through Vitor, only then would Shogun vs Spider as the next matchup be considered IMO. | |

| The biggest obstacle the UFC has is where the LHW division sits. If Rua had gotten the nod, who do you give him? Actually, this works for the winner of the rematch if it happens in January...
Top-20's not even in consideration, IMO. The Matt Hamill-Jon Jones winner. Neither is even close to being ready for a strap. Keith Jardine would have to win 5 straight to prove something to Dana as inconsistent as he is. Rich doesn't know where he wants to fight and is coming off a loss, so no. Wandy has done nothing to even remotely deserve consideration. Forrest has lost two in a row and wouldn't be in consideration even if he beats Tito. Tito isn't ready after the layoff even if he beats Forrest (His draw power would help his case, but I still say no way).
Slight possibilities... Cane has three straight wins and could be considered after beating Lil Nog. But would Lil Nog be worthy after one fight in the UFC if he beats Cane? I don't think so, but you never know with Dana and Joe Silva. The winner of the Couture-Vera fight? I couldn't really see either, but it's a slim possibility especially for Randy because of his name and draw power.
The most likely opponent... Evans v. Thiago winner. Evans for sure if he wins. #3 in the world, and would be in prime position. Thiago not as much, but depending on how some of the other fights pan out, he might be the best choice. And as we have all suggested, Anderson going for a dual title... Especially if Rua is holding the belt.
At this point, there's just not a ton of viable options for worthy guys going after the belt.

| LTFG...what about Randy if he beats Vera? It would be a nice "filler fight" to buy some time for someone else to step up. I think IF Shogun would have won then the best canidates would be. 1. Evans if he beat Thiago, 2. Randy if he beats Vera and 3. Cane vs lil Nog winner. | |

| The good thing about this situation is by the time the rematch is done the #1 contender picture should be a bit clearer . |

I agree with that order, that's why I have the Randy-Vera winner in the slight possibilities category. Dana would love to put Randy right back in the spotlight (And big PPV $$$), so if he beats Vera and Thiago beats Shad, you may very well get this fight!!! If Shad wins, he's obviously #1.

| If Shad wins then the UFC could put winner of Nog vs Randy vs winner Cane vs lil Nog or even winner of Tito vs Forrest. Some combonation of those winners could fight for the next title shot after Shad. | |

| If Shogun wins, Anderson gets an immediate shot while Nate and Vitor vai for an interm/vacant type MW title fight, or perhaps they use the title fight to get Hendo back in the picture. | |
