Thiago Silva out of UFC 149; Shogun refuses Teixeira bout.
The UFC's injury woes continue as Brazilian light heavyweight Thiago Silva has been forced to pull out of July's UFC 149 event in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Luckily for UFC president Dana White, promotional newcomer Glover Teixeira (18-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) is both healthy and hungry for a big fight after a scintillating win over Kyle Kingsbury at this past weekend's UFC 146 event.
There's just one problem: According to White, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (20-6 MMA, 4-4 UFC) – Silva's original opponent – won't take the fight.
"With Thiago hurt, we turned to Glover and asked him to go right back in to fight 'Shogun' at UFC 149," White told MMAjunkie.com. "But 'Shogun's' people are adamantly refusing to take the fight. They want nothing to do with Glover."

What about him? I'd enjoy that match up, but Glover v Shogun is a prefect bout for a short notice fight. Shogun is being a bitch. Glover needs to be fast tracked to big fights since he's already 32.

Why the fuck would Shogun waste his time with Glover? no win situation.

He had a very quick fight vs Kyle, he is probably still in decent shape. SF LHW division has nothing left for him really. But would Shogun fight him? I don't know if they ever crossed paths in the training room.

Phil Davis is another option. His original opponent is out and he just got a replacement.

Yep, his latest activity was trying to rally for a TUF coaching gig opposite Forrest Griffin.

Shogun knows he can't hang with Glover. I think Rua has plenty to gain by beating Glover also freak.

1. Feijao 2. Gus 3. Davis 4. Bonnar
In that order.

Shogun vs Bonnar makes no sense at all. Shogun should be fighting Glover or Guss.

UPDATE - According to a Tatame interview, Shogun's manager Julio Heller said they haven't turned down Teixeira and didn't know that Silva was officially out of the fight yet:
“I just sent a message to the UFC. I’m waiting for their call”, Heller said. “(Turning down a fight with Glover) it’s not true at all”.
Julio said they’ll wait for the UFC before making further comments, and the decision to fight Glover, or any other opponent, is in Shogun and his coach Andre Dida’s hands.
“We have to wait for the names they’ll offer, and then we’ll see what we do”.

Shogun vs. Bonnar would be entertaining, and it's about time they gave Stephan a name.

Well guhdamnit they switched the article on me. Earlier said he now meets Glover.
If Shogun turns down Glover, and takes a fight with anyone not named Gus, he loses credibility with me. IMO Shogun has his way with Feijo, and Bonnar. Even though I think Bonnar could make it exciting.

I gotta agree with Freak on this one. Why would a guy just two fights removed from holding the title and coming off one of the best if not the best fight the 205 pound division has ever seen fight someone who's not even in the top ten? There's nothing to gain from fighting Glover for Shogun.

Then why was he fighting Thiago? He's not even top 15.
Edit: jew beat me to it.
