| http://mmajunkie.com/news/30181/bellator-74-main-card-set-with-welterweight-tourney-good-wallhead-headliner.mmaA Season 7 welterweight tournament will take center stage at Bellator 74. Officials today announced the nearly complete lineup for the Sept. 28 event, which takes place at Caesar's Atlantic City in Atlantic City, N.J. In the MTV2-televised headliner and one of four opening-round tournament bouts, former champion Lyman Good (12-2 MMA, 5-2 BFC) meets Jim Wallhead (23-6 MMA, 1-1 BFC). Good is 2-1, which included a close Season 4 tournament loss to Rick Hawn, since losing his title to Ben Askren in 2010. He now takes on Wallhead, whose only loss in his past 11 fights came to Hawn in a Season 4 tournament fight. Most recently, "Judo Jim" has knocked off big-show vets Frank Trigg and Joey Villasenor under the BAMMA banner. Other opening-round tournament fights include Andrey Koreshkov (10-0 MMA, 2-0 BFC) vs. Jordan Smith (17-3-1 MMA, 0-1 BFC), Tim Welch (9-3 MMA, 0-0 BFC) vs. Michail Tsarev (23-2 MMA, 0-0 BFC), and Nordine Taleb (8-1 MMA, 2-0 BFC) vs. Marius Zaromskis (18-6 MMA, 2-0 BFC). Overall, the tournament competitors have a combined record of 120-23-1. The prelims, which stream on Spike.com, include featherweights Alexandre "Popo" Bezerra (13-2 MMA, 5-1 BFC) vs. Jeff Smith (10-1 MMA, 0-0 BFC), lightweights Derrick Kennington (6-3 MMA, 0-1 BFC) vs. Phillipe Nover (5-4-1 MMA, 0-1 BFC), featherweights Brylan Van Artsdalen (6-4 MMA, 0-4 BFC) vs. Jay Haas (10-9 MMA, 0-1 BFC), middleweights Kelvin Tiller (4-1 MMA, 2-0 BFC) vs. Plinio Cruz (5-5 MMA, 0-1 BFC), and bantamweights Claudio Ledesma (6-3 MMA, 1-1 BFC) vs. Kenny Foster (10-6 MMA, 3-3 BFC). Female fighter Munah Holland (5-1 MMA, 1-0 BFC) also will compete against an opponent to be named. | http://mmajunkie.com/news/30297/bellator-79-slated-for-nov-2-with-champ-eduardo-dantas-paul-daley-and-ryan-ford.mmaThree notables will be part of the newly announced Bellator 79 card. Officials today announced that Bellator bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas (14-2 MMA, 4-0 BFC), British striker Paul Daley (30-12-2 MMA, 1-0 BFC), and veteran welterweight Ryan Ford (18-4 MMA, 1-0 BFC) all will be part of the lineup. Bellator 79 takes place Nov. 2 at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada. The night's main card, which will include the trio of fighters above, airs on MTV2 (and in high-definition on EPIX) following prelims on Spike.com. Dantas meets the winner of this weekend's Bellator 73 headliner and Season 6 bantamweight-tournament final between Marcos Galvao (12-5-1 MMA, 3-2 BFC) and Luis Nogueira (14-2 MMA, 4-1 BFC). | |

| Hopefully since Killa B and Lima were both left out of the tourny, they will be the guys matchup up on this card. Lima already beat Ford so Lima vs Daley and Ford vs Saunders sounds good to me. | |

Bellator Adds 20-0 Russian Phenom Alexander Sarnavskiy to Lightweight Roster
20-0 Russian prospect Alexander Sarnavskiy has signed with Bellator Fighting Championships and will compete in their next lightweight tournament.
Bellator officials announced the signing on Tuesday.
One of the top unsigned prospects in the sport, Alexander Sarnavskiy amassed an impressive 20-0 record while competing in several promotions, but most notably fought under the M-1 Global banner for several fights.
A student under top Bellator middleweight contender Alexander Shlemenko, the Russian fighter has only gone to decision three times in his career while picking up 6 knockouts or TKO’s and 11 submissions.
“The Bellator tournament will be a difficult test for me,” Sarnavskiy said. “I will train and prepare myself the best I can. I have a huge responsibility to my coach, my manager, my fans and my country. I won’t disappoint them and I want to show them a spectacular performance.”
Sarnavskiy will join the Bellator lightweight tournament slated to kick off later this year with the winner getting a shot at the belt currently held by top ten 155lb fighter Michael Chandler.

| Bellator 75 saw Brett Rogers get his ass kicked for 3 rounds while he mainly backpeddled. It also saw the conclusion to the worst "trilogy" in MMA history as Thiago Santos beats Prindle by DQ..nut shot. | |

Your not giving Prindle enough credit. That was a perfectly executed nut shot. | |

| I'm not sure but I think the Bellator and UFC ref discrepancy could be due to Bellator's choice in locations. They tend to frequent arenas that the UFC doesn't often book shows in. Namely Connecticut, Oklahoma, Ohio, and Florida. | |

| http://mmajunkie.com/news/31243/despite-guaranteed-title-shot-bellator-78s-daniel-straus-not-taking-it-easy.mmaInjuries have created a bottleneck at the top of Bellator's featherweight division, and Daniel Straus isn't waiting for it to clear. "They're going to allow me to stay busy inside the cage with them, so I'm going to take a fight before I get this title fight with whoever wins between Pat (Curran) and [Patricio Freire]," Straus told MMAjunkie.com Radio ( www.mmajunkie.com/radio).Straus (20-4 MMA, 7-1 BFC) meets UFC vet Alvin Robinson (12-6 MMA, 0-0 BFC) on the MTV2-televised main card of Bellator 78, which takes place Friday at Nutter Center in Fairborn, Ohio. Preliminary-card fights stream on Spike.com. Although he could walk away from the fight with a loss, Straus said he isn't gambling his title shot by fighting Robinson, who returns to the cage for the first time in 13 months. Regardless of the outcome, he'll fight champ Curran or Freire. "Everybody is just waiting for Pat to get healed up," Straus said. "He had an unfortunate injury training for his fight (with Freire), and unfortunately, the [featherweights] are just backed up right now. It's injuries – you can't blame anyone for them." With less at risk, Straus could theoretically coast or fight in ways he otherwise wouldn't. But at least in the gym, he said he's prepared for the bout as if it were for a title, noting that Robinson received his jiu-jitsu black belt from Renzo Gracie. "I'm not really scared to go to the ground with him," he said. "Although that's not really where I want the fight to be at. But I feel like I've been preparing in the right way, so I'm not worried about where it goes. "I definitely want to get into this fight and finish him and not go the distance any more. I want to show what I have and show that I can beat these guys and be dominant." Indeed, all but one of Straus' seven Bellator fights have gone to the scorecards. His sole loss in the promotion came against Freire, who outpointed him in the Season 4 tourney final. The Cincinnati native also has faced a half-dozen standouts selected or their potential to be champions, so he hasn't exactly had an easy road. Straus hopes his bout will stay upright so he has a greater chance of finishing Robinson. But whether the matchup is a brief stopover or the hardest fight of his life, he's pressing ahead nonetheless. "I'm going to go out there and show why I'm sitting in the position to have my next title fight," he said. | |

| http://mmajunkie.com/news/31485/bellator-signs-fabricio-guerreiro-expects-brazilian-to-be-in-next-145-pound-tournament.mmaBellator Fighting Championships has added to the ranks of one of its most competitive divisions. Fabricio Guerreiro (16-1 MMA, 0-0 BFC) has signed with the promotion and is expected to make his debut with Bellator in 2013. Sources close to the promotion told MMAjunkie.com ( www.mmajunkie.com) of the signing. Though a debut fight is not set, sources said Guerreiro likely would be tapped as one of the eight competitors in Bellator's Season 8 featherweight tournament. After fighting eight times in 2011, Guerreiro has fought just once in 2012, picking up a first-round triangle-choke over Roberto Bruno da Silva in the main event of a regional show in his native Brazil. In 2011, the 22-year-old suffered the only loss of his pro MMA career, a controversial TKO against Rafael Addario Bastos that many deemed an early stoppage just 48 seconds in. The two rematched a month later, and Guerreiro won with a third-round submission. All told, 12 of Guerreiro's 16 career wins have come by submission, with two others by TKO. And half of his wins have come in the first round. Though Guerreiro has fought at lightweight in the past, he'll fight in Bellator's 145-pound weight class, which currently is backed up due to injuries. Pat Curran won the title in March. He was scheduled to defend his title earlier this fall against tournament winner Patricio "Pitbull" Freire, but that fight was delayed with a Curran injury and now is expected to take place once Bellator moves from MTV2 to Spike TV in January. The winner of that fight already has an opponent in waiting with Season 6 featherweight tournament winner Daniel Straus. And that winner then will have the eventual winner of the current Season 7 tournament, which ends in December, waiting in the wings. That makes Bellator's featherweight division easily among its most stacked right now, and Guerreiro apparently will be thrown right into the tournament fire. | |
