Pics needed right? Seriously though, I heard Lesnar will start training again in July. could be about a 16-18 month layoff. Those haven't been good for fighters lately (Shogun, Thompson, Tito).

MMA RANKINGS - CHAPTER 1... - Page 11 Empty
PostSubject: Re: MMA RANKINGS - CHAPTER 1...   MMA RANKINGS - CHAPTER 1... - Page 11 EmptyWed Jan 06, 2010 3:40 am

1. Fedor - The goat, no explination needed.
2. Josh Barnett - In activity and Affliction's demise hurt him, but I don't see anyone else on this list outside of Fedor who is better.
3. Minotauro - He is back. Mark my words.
4. Brock Lesnar - Had to drop him because of the lay off and his injuries, coupled with the fact I don't think he is that good and I hate him.
5. Andre Arlovski - I know he will rebound from his latest loss. Still the fastest hands in the division.
6. Frank Mir - Finally feel really comfortable ranking him in the top ten again.
7. Cain Velasquez - Coming along nicely. Could move up all the way to 2 for me with a win over Nog.
8. Shane Carwin - While I feel he might actually beat Cain, Cain has the better record in terms of name opponents.
9. Junior Dos Santos - Need to see your ground game bud. For real striker though. I wish Dana would let him play around in K1. If overeem can win there, he'd fuck shit up.
10. Brett Rogers - Need to see more ground game here too, but kudos for Fedor's nose.

I really really tried to justify booting one of these fools off and sticking Alex on the list, but couldn't do it. Overeem is a fake who ducks real fighters.

LHW.

1. The Dragon - is champion.
2. Shogun - Looking even better than he did in Pride all of a sudden...
3. Sugar - Of all the active and relevant former champions, I feel he is the most likely to be champion again.
4. Minotoro - We all know his ground game is sick, but it turns out he may be the best striker in the division outside of Machida all of a sudden. Super scary.
5. Rampage - I wonder how he will look when he comes back.
6. Gegard - The Dreamcatcher needs only to improve his wrestling to be literally the total package.
7. Forrest - Two straight losses and then another close battle with Ortiz have taken a lot of the shine off his potential future in the division.
8. Thiago Silva - Ever improving, maybe Silva actually can measure up to his hype someday...
9. Bones - This cat is for fucking real kids.
10. Luiz Cane - He looked like a monster against Cantwell, but like an amatuer against Nog. Wonder what the future holds for him.

HM - Rich, Tito, Vera, Jardine

MW

1. Anderson Silva - Maybe the best UFC fighter of all time. Get down.
2. Dan Henderson - While moving to Strikeforce spices up 2010 there big time, I must say I am really disappointed a fight with Marquardt never materialized.
3. Nate the Great - It's a toss up between who the second best is between he and Dan.
4. Vitor - re-energized, maybe Vitor can finally live up to the lofty expectations people had for him literally two MMA ages ago.
5. Jake Shields - I think even Jacare and Maia would run into trouble with his style of BJJ.
6. Chael Sonnen - if gritty ever described a fighter, it is him. Perhaps he has somewhat over achieved.
7. Akiyama - Should consider a move to WW.
8. Khalidov - The under the radar breakout fighter of the year.
9. Yushin Okami - I have a feeling injuries and rust have derailed him as a title contender.
10. Melvin Manhoef - I am riding high on the Misaki fight, but if he defeats Lawler, he certainly earns his place on the list.

HM - Misaki, Wanderlei Silva, Rich Franklin, Jacare, Mayhem, Santiago

WW

1. GSP - unbeatable, but then again, Serra may have been on paper his best matchup in his UFC career.
2. BJ Penn - Look, Penn will be back here someday, and no one besides Rush is beating this man ever again in his career.
3. Thiago Alves - Liddell like takedown defense and hammers for knees feet and hands.
4. Jon Fitch - a humanoid backpack of beatdown.
5. Josh Koscheck - Ever improving, he is becoming the prototype for wrestler converts.
6. Paul Daley - The best technical striker in MMA right Joe?
7. Dan Hardy - A white version of the above mentioned. Stupid ass haircut. Eventually both fighters will be exposed on the ground.
8. Nick Diaz - Look for him to submit Zaromskis.
9. Matt Hughes - It's a crime people strike him from their lists after losses to the two best fulltime WW's, one who was overweight, and a win over the last man besides GSP to hold the title, and the only other man besides himself to ever best the Canadian.
10. Jay Herion - It was a tough choice between him, Hornbuckle, and Zaromskis but with the sudden rise of Daley and Hardy in the UFC I feel it's best to go with someone with a more established well rounded skillset and resume.

HM - Hornbuckle, Gono, Mach, Zaromskis, Thiago, Condit, Kampmann, Serra

LW

1. BJ Penn - This guy could trash a few guys ranked in the MW lists and all of the WW lists south of Penn, in my mind. All this coming from a division that should have 20 guys in the "top ten" based on a high number of great fighters and parity.
2. Shinya Aoki - Don't plan on using a row boat in the months following a fight with him.
3. Kenny Florian - Looks like a killer against anyone not named BJ.
4. The Crusher - More quality wins this year vault him over Alvarez, the last man to beat him.
5. Eddie Alvarez - Despite not losing any fights and Kawajiri's K1 loss, Kawajiri has two near top ten quality wins with JZ and Yakota, while no one Eddie has beat really sniffs the top 20.
6. Diego Sanchez - His bubble was burst by a three inch slash, but he still looks like he could contend with most fighters in the division.
7. Sean Sherk - It seems like a crime to even rate the former champ this low, and how quickly his striking success against Griffin has been forgotten, Edgar fight not withstanding.
8. Gilbert Melendez - He is peaking at the right time. I really want to see him take on some of Dream and Sengokus best in the coming year in Strikeforce.
9. Frankie Edgar - He very well could be significantly better than this ranking.
10. Gray Maynard - The same is true for him. I really have a hard time figuring out some semblance of order in a division so loaded with ever improving young studs. I could just as easily transpose him with most fighters on this list starting at four.

HM - Yakota, Varner, Henderson, Carrone, Griffin, Jim Miller, Gomi, Thompson, Hirota, Kitaoka and many others.

FW and BW lists coming tomorrow.

HW

1- Fedor - Lining up another opponent who has almost no chance...shocking
2- Brock - Though injured and fighting for his health, until we hear otherwise, the greatest threat to Fedor's title ofBest HW
3- Mir - Getting better and better, but still needs to prove Big Nog was not a fluke
4- Big Nog - A little past his prime, but still a dangerous man
5- Carwin - Though has limited time in the ring against named opponents, was still devestating
6- JDS - Getting very impressive as time progresses
7- Cain - Progressing up the ladder quite nicely
8- Werdum - List starts to thin at this point
9- Rogers - Impressed with his efforts against Fedor, but really didn't have much of chance
10- Arlovski - I guess, why not, who else can go on this list?

HM- Don't worry about it, I don't list roids freaks

LHW

2- Rua - Proved all he needed to
3- Shad - Still dangerous, but needs to keep his head in the fight
4- Gegard - Could be the man of the future
5- Thiago - A tough and brutal puncher...not too smart though
6- Couture - Even though he has lost a step, the smartest guy in the game
7- Lil Nog - Hands have become exciting
8- Bones - He and Gegard looking for the same spot
9- Page - The dumbest fighter around, good chin though
10- Forrest - Always comes to fight, even when he doesn't look good

MW

1- Spider - The best fighter around
2- Hendo - A force to be reckoned with, no matter where he fights
3- Nate M. - A force to be reckoned with no matter where he fights
4- Shields - He cannot punch, but h e can sure grapple
5- Vitor - Ready to show he is the man
6- Maia - One mistake does not a career make
7- Sonnen - Learned how to turn losses into victory
8- Bisping - Got humbled by Hendo and will be a better fighter for it
9- Khalidov - Wolfy already said it
10- Akiyama - Needs to learn the cage, but he is a tough fighter

WW
1- Georges St. Pierre - If not for Silva he would be the best P4P
2- Fitch - Is just a survivor
3- Kos - When he is serious, he is dangerous
4- Thiago A. - Needs to work his back for another shot
5- Hughes - Past his prime, but still a force in WW
6- Hardy - Great chin, dangerous hands, and dead in the water
7- Daley - Shown good, but is still building his resume
8- Swick - Needs to add to game in order to make another run
9- P. Thiago - Ask Kos
10- Kampmann - Showed strong a last UFC

1- BJ Penn - Has looked like the best he was suppossed to be
2- Kenflo - Ask Clay Guida, who got his ass kicked
3- Maynard - Has shown strong and is ready for the challenge to BJ, but would lose to Kenflo
4- Alvarez - Is one of the strongest LW ouside of the UFC
5- Edgar - Smart stand-up and solid grappling, needs to develop a bit more
6- Aoki - Jerk is a brilliant grappler
7- Diego - Showed good fight and a lack of skill against BJ
8- Sherk - Injuries are slowing him down
9- Melendez - Great fight to regain his title
10- Kawajiri - Tough loss but still one of the best

HM- After UFN 20 Evan Dunham is pushing towards the top 10

PostSubject: Re: MMA RANKINGS - CHAPTER 1...   MMA RANKINGS - CHAPTER 1... - Page 11 EmptyTue Jan 12, 2010 5:16 pm

FW

1. Jose Aldo - The man at 145 now.
2. Urijah Faber - moving him to 2 thanks to his top ten win and number 1 contender status.
3. Mike Brown - Urijah slightly ahead, but they're essentially tied.
4. Bibiano Fernandes - top dog in Dream, who has only ever lost to Kid and the California Kid.
5. Michihiro Omigawa - The best .500 fighter in the world. And getting better all the time. His flattening KO of Dream FW finalist Takaya at Dynamite proves his other wins were not flukes.
6. Raphael Assuncao - Faber exposed the lack of speed and holes in his game. Needs work to make it to the next level.
7. Hatsu Hioki - I thought we was somewhat robbed against Omigawa, I await a rematch between the two.
8. Kanehara - Top dog in Sengoku who just edged out a razor thin decision over the still very game Kid Yamamoto.
9. Josh Grispi - bright future for the up and comer.
10. Deividas Taurosevicius - Looks like future title contender with great ground, developing striking, powerful wrestling and explosive athleticism. Come a long way since his last loss to then IFL FW champion Ryan Schultz.

Fabiano has dropped to 135, and is off the list.

Didnt know where to put them so here, if they should go somewhere else just tell me where to put them

1. Jose Aldo - no discussion
2. Mike Brown - proved he is the number 2 in division IMO
3. Urijah Faber - solid dominating win got him back on the winning track
4. Bibiano Fernandes - moves up 1 spot , and his Dream run is impressive
5. Manvel Ganvuryan - moves up in my rankings due to losses above him
6. Raphael Assuncao - I still think he is one of the top guys n the division
7. Hatsu Hioki - 4-1 in 2009, and had tough decision vs Omigiwa
8. Josh Grispi - moves up cause of Wagnney leaving and losses above him
9. Deividas Taurosevicius - Im defiently stretching, but he is tough, goes the distance with whoever, and looked impressive vs
10. Macken Semiezer

Here is my previous ratings

1. Jose Aldo - He is just to good at timing guys for this class
2. Mackens Semerzier - guys 4-0 and subbed Fabiano fast, he is my number 2.
3. Mike Brown - Toug as nails wrestler 2-1, vs Faber and Aldo, clearly better than Faber, 4-1 last 5 fights.
4.Rapael Assuncao -6-0 in last 6 fights including victory over Joe Lauzon, who dusted Jens Pulver, who got older and got beaten twice by.......?....
5. Urijah Faber - ya he is fun to watch but he is 1-2 in his last 3 fights and thats not number 2 or 3 material IMO. 3-2 last 5 fights 2 wins over Jens Pulver, Im probably wrong but this is where I rank him.
6.Bibiano Fernandes - 5-0 in last 5 fights in Dream, Impressive. Think he has learned from the Faber fight
7. Manvel Ganvuryan
8. Hatsu Hioki
9. Wagnney Fabiano
10. Josh Grispi

Feel free to tear me a new one !

I am surprised Jens Pulver and Caol Uno aren't on there.

I would say I was also surprised Alexandrie Franco Noguiera isn't on there but I doubt anyone gets that joke, even you.

I like your rankings by the way.

haahah I get it, Uno and Pulver have sadly seen better days
I have to admit I dont watch much Dream or K-1
But a question I had was should Omigiwa be like a 9 or 10 guy, cause he went what 5-1 last year with a big win questionable or not

I posted these a few hours ago. A lot like yours actually. Michihiro Omigawa just KO'd the runner up to the Dream FW tournament at Dynamite so right now he is def worth ranking very high.

Come a long way since his last loss to then IFL FW champion Ryan Schultz.

ya Wagnney exited my list so I had to think, Kid Yammamato is hard for me to rank him cause he was so great but was 0-2 last year, he is still Top 15 though IMO, I just dont know where

0-3 for Kid, but I gave his fight with Sengoku champ Kanehara to him, and so did Guy Mezger and the voice. At the very least that proves he is still a top fighter.
