Well that's what he should say if Machida wins, but it would be waaaay cooler if he says, "Welcome back to the Machida era" and you know it....man!

| This is definitely egg on Shad's face though.
If Jones is willing to defend the title this soon, then Shad is not really getting screwed here...i'm sure he still has his reservations.

| It comes down to speed and timing in a stand up battle. Neither will be able to take the other down or hold them there. Machida is the better stand up fighter. Jones will end up getting finished while being aggressive with a flashy strike or telegraphed strike. | |

Speed and timing are not the only factors in a stand up battle.

Speed and timing are not the only factors in a stand up battle. add in Machida's counters or his quick punches with that, and this is gonna be a war on the feet. It's gonna be just as bad for Machida. He has a bigger test in Bones, but Machida is still the only guy that wouldn't surpise me if he KO'd Jones after catching him with some quick punch to wobble him.

http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/10/06/jon-jones-explains-why-he-is-fighting-lyoto-machida-at-ufc-140/ Not smack, but an impressive fact.
"This is four fights in 10 months against three former champions."
But obviously he has every right to talk shit about shad. I call it smack either way. I didn't say it wasn't true because it is. He verbally spanked Shad's ass. Rashad should be crying tears of anger right now, lol. I mean yelling his name mad!

Speed and timing are not the only factors in a stand up battle. You mean reach? Machida can do nothing about that. It comes down to who has the speed and timing advantage on fight night. The reach makes it easier for Bones to have that advantage.

He should get another point for being in a pic with a longer curly headed Don Frye. I thought that was a huge bonus myself.

| So if Bones wins, he will have beaten, Bader(2nd rnd sub), Rua (3rd rnd tko), Page (4th rnd sub) and the Dragon.
Easily fighter of the year, and one of the great years in the history of MMA. Still has to beat Lyoto, but ya know.
And if I ever have to read that he is ducking shad again, oh, I'll be so mad.

I've been feeling this way since a week before the Page fight, but I was too scared to let it be known I was cheering for Bones against Page when I finally saw them fight. I thought Josh may cry he read it after Page got beat so I kept it locked up until now.

The reach makes it easier for Bones to have that advantage. numerous other factors in a stand up battle. Yes Reach is one of em. And I don't see how reach gives someone a speed advantage. these all seem like distinct and seperate factors.

Reach always give someone speed if they get it down with timing. Boxing 101. That did sound halfway scientific, and to a degree is almost makes sense. With a reach advantage you get a "cushion" for the speed gap. because unless someone is already inside they have to come inside to reach you, which somewhat telegraphs what's coming. It doesn't let you know what exactly is about to happen but you have a good idea that something is about to happen and you can either move out of the way or try to block/counter.
