| I think that's fair enough. Rich has nothing to gain by fighting Gustfsson. |

It's a blow for the card, and Rich was coming off a loss. |

| He's not getting any younger. I think we will see him fight a max of 2 fights a year and he doesn't want to waste them anymore. He's in Randy's category of the past 2 years now. |

| I understand why he turned it down. The UFC forced him away from 185 where he was ranked 2-5 in the world because he couldn't beat #1. Now he wants to work his way into title contention and beating Gustfssons of the world won't get you there. | |

| Nothing to gain and everything to lose. Simple as that, don't blame him for declining. Besides he's helped the UFC a ton so it's not gonna hurt his status with them | |

Your understanding is not accurate in a couple ways friend. He left 185 voluntarily and the UFC actually forced him to fight MW's at the so called "Franklinweight", delaying his progress as a LHW contender.

Your understanding is not accurate in a couple ways friend. He left 185 voluntarily and the UFC actually forced him to fight MW's at the so called "Franklinweight", delaying his progress as a LHW contender. Your understanding is not accurate. Rich fought Belfort at that catchweight to help Vitor prepare for the cut to MW. Same goes for the Wandy fight. Those fights were fought at that weight to help out his opponents, not for him. Also he was asked to leave MW because he was just knocking off contenders like when he beat Lutter. That has been said by Ace and the UFC.
