Sonnen vs Stann for UFC 136

Yeah it doesn't really make sense to waste Stann's rise like this. I would've rather seen Sonnen-Munoz

Stann's contender ship is hardly wasted. He is a live dog in this fight. He could KO or sub Sonnen. This is gonna be like Ramana Bridge all over again.

well, it was gonna end sometime. Stann is not a legit contender. I don't know why we as fans are worried about UFC potentially sabotaging their oppurtunity to build Stann as a contender without having to beat somebody like Chael Sonnen or somebody that will test parts not in movement in his recent bouts. I thought we didnt like manufactured contenders(Leites, Hardy, etc)

When somebody says "waste somebody's rise"..it means "failed to protect". Brian Stann isnt a rugrat..he's a vet. He's as ready for Sonnen as he ever will be.

Would've rather seen him fight someone with solid wrestling skills before fighting one of the best wrestlers in the sport

BTW, he might've just misspoke but Jordan Breen referred to this as the main event of this card in which case it would be 5 rounds

Could still be Edgar-Maynard III I guess if Gray is ready by then too

this card looks like its shaping up. gray/frankie 3(hopefully gray is cleared), kenny/aldo and now chael/stann. houston is a 3 hour drive for me so im so going to the expo both days and the event. i see embassy suites is only 134 a night and its half a city block away from the toyota center and a block away from the george brown convention center(expo). cant wait

Chael/Stann is the only fight that's official right now. I don't think they have decided where they are gonna put Aldo/Florian yet and who knows what's going on with Maynard

It wastes Sonnen too. It's a stupid fight to book and doesn't make sense from a marketing angle at all and when there are many vastly more compelling fights, like say, a Damien Maia rematch, why do this? Stupid fight. Joe Silva is not doing his job here.

That puts Sonnen as a better than 2-to-1 favorite.

I think Stann might not be a bad gamble. Double your money, he's a live dog.

Stann will not win. I'd rather have seen Sonnen vs Maia and Stann vs Munoz, Belfort or Franklin.

I hope Stann wins and I will be cheering for him though. I want to be wrong here.
