| http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/7/6/2262182/always-honest-forrest-griffin-tells-sherdog-hes-anticipating-aAlways honest, Forrest Griffin tells Sherdog he's anticipating a difficult weight cut and conditioning issues for his upcoming fight in Rio against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua: - Quote :
- "I definitely put on more weight than I would like," Griffin told
Sherdog.com. "I need to cut weight and it won’t be easy. I’ll have a lot of problems until the fight in Brazil, but I’ve gotta do it. I don’t want to fight at heavyweight, so I gotta cut that f--king weight."
"He’s one of the best fighters ever," Griffin said of his opponent, who he submitted in September 2007. "He has a blitz style. He goes forward. He’s dangerous. I gotta make him move backward and let’s see what happens. I want to go hard for all 15 minutes of the fight."
"It’s difficult to adjust yourself [to another country]," said Griffin. "There’s the jetlag thing, and it’s difficult to make weight since Brazil doesn’t have the distilled water I use in the U.S. and the food I need to eat. It’s always difficult to change your routine when you go to another country. I feel stupid because I can’t communicate with people from the hotels and can’t even say how I want my eggs. It’s clearly a pain in the ass."

| If Forrest does find a way to win this rematch, I'll have to seriously re-evaluate him as a fighter. | |

| I see that he is already thinking about grinding it out with him. That's dumb in my opinion if you are fighting Shogun you gotta put him out he's too dangerous. | |

| $100 says Rua knocks him out cold and Forrest runs out the arena again. |

You're kinda right. We know who is, but what his body is still capable of... that will be seen in this fight.

Did losing to Bones make you question who Shogun is? I mean I get what your saying if Shogun finishes Forrest it would prove he's still that badass but losing to Bones imo shouldn't make Shogun look that bad.

Fucking gay, it wasn't private when I posted it. But it did have some annoying feature that made it auto play when you opened the thread.

- It quit being fun when I realized I wasn't getting better. I'm plateauing or almost getting worse sometimes. One of the essential elements to have in this is your perceived expectation of the future, and I'm a painful realist, so I realized that I'm not going to get better; this is it. It's only gonna get worse from here on and you fight as much as you can, you fight until you don't have it anymore, and then you fight a couple more times after that.
Your cat's sick, you can't pay your rent, and for 15 or 25 minutes, however long, you're free of that. It's real hard for that to enter your mind when somebody's choking your face off. You're in that moment of getting your face choked. You ain't thinking about the bills, your mortgage or your boss. It's freedom from that. Well, now, the problem is that I've got a good life. I don't want freedom from my good life. I love my life. I've got an awesome wife, my cat's cool, he's pretty healthy, and life's pretty good.
Now I don't need a reprieve from life.

| Forrest probably has too much money to care about fighting anymore. The UFC would give him a front office job the second he retires and he's probably made some good dough between fighting, sponsors, and writing. I still think he's one of the best at LHW. Easily top ten, and can hang with the top five guys. | |

| Forrest is going to start suffering knockout losses more than wins. Shogun starts this trend. | |

Shogun has his own set of mental issues to work through. Just as likely Forrest outworks him.

| I'm going to call it right now. Shogun will be full of nerves and we will hear something about some "injury" after the fight and we will see a gun shy/lack luster performance and after the fight we will be flooded with post about "Shogun is done". | |
