http://mmajunkie.com/news/30190/ufc-vet-john-gunderson-signs-three-fight-deal-with-resurrection-fighting-alliance.mma
Another veteran lightweight has joined the ranks of the upstart Resurrection Fighting Alliance.

A promotion official today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that John Gunderson (34-14) has inked a three-fight deal with the promotion.

Gunderson is expected to fight in the next RFA event, which is targeted for October in Las Vegas and will stream live on Fight Now TV. A date and venue have yet to be finalized.

Gunderson fought earlier this month in his home state of Oregon at "Caged Combat 6" and suffered a fourth-round submission loss to David Castillo.

The setback snapped a promising two-fight streak with wins over UFC vets Justin Buchholz and Karo Parisyan.

An opponent is not yet finalized for Gunderson's debut.

RFA also announced Tuesday that longtime manager Ed Soares has taken the role of the promotion's president.

Additional talent featured on the October event includes Tyson Griffin, Sergio Pettis, Gilbert Yvel, Chidi Njokuani, Chris Holdsworth, Bubba Jenkins and Lance Palmer, RFA matchmaker Scott Cutbirth previously told MMAjunkie.com.

You know what's crazy, this show is just about on par with the next UFC on Fuel card.

It's got some good stuff for sure. I actually like the next 2 FUEL cards. But this is a quality card for sure. Chidi Chidi Bang Bang is fun to watch. Hopefully Yvel has improved, haven't been impressed by him at LHW so far.

PostSubject: Resurrection Fighting Alliance acquires Titan Fighting Championship, AXS TV deal   Resurrection Fighting Alliance acquires Titan Fighting Championship, AXS TV deal EmptySat Oct 13, 2012 6:16 pm

Resurrection Fighting Alliance today announced it has acquired Titan Fighting Championship.

The deal includes Titan FC's fighter contracts, as well as its current broadcast deal with AXS TV.

Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

Titan FC founder and president Joe Kelly will now work for RFA, which also added veteran MMA manager Ed Soares to his management team earlier this year.

"I am very excited to be working with the guys at Resurrection Fighting Alliance," Kelly stated. "I really feel like this is a partnership with all the potential for success. We are very like-minded with similar goals."

Titan FC launched in 2006 and hosted 25 events, many of which aired on AXS TV (formerly HDNet). Events have taken place primarily at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan., though the company branched out to Indiana, Missouri and Oklahoma during its six-year run. Fighters such as Alan Belcher, Jamie Varner, Tim Sylvia, Jens Pulver, Dakota Cochrane and James Krause have competed for the organization.

RFA, meanwhile, launched in late 2011 and has hosted three shows to date. Many top prospects and big-show vets have competed for the organization, which now joins the ranks of other nationally televised MMA promotions.

Officials today announced the organization's next show, RFA 4, will air on AXS TV on Nov. 2.

http://mmajunkie.com/news/31443/ed-soares-resurrection-fighting-alliance-targeting-up-to-10-shows-in-2013.mma
The Resurrection Fighting Alliance held its first event in Las Vegas this past Friday, and the promotion has aggressive plans for expansion next year.

RFA President Ed Soares told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) events are targeted for six different states in 2013, including Nebraska, Kansas, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico and California.

"Our goal is to do 10 to 12 shows next year," he said. "I would hope we could do eight to 10 because what we're shooting for and what we do is sometimes different. But I would be very upset if we didn't do at least eight shows next year."

RFA 4 took place at Texas Station Gambling Hall & Hotel in Las Vegas and featured an 11-fight card, which included seven bouts that aired live on AXS TV. The event's main event saw Tyson Griffin earn a unanimous decision over fellow UFC vet Efrain Escudero. Additionally, prospects Sergio Pettis, the brother of UFC lightweight Anthony Pettis, and Olympic wrestler Steve Mocco were victorious in separate bouts.

The AXS TV partnership came into the picture with a recent merger between the RFA and Titan Fighting Championships.

"It was like we're forming an alliance to better the sport," Soares said of the RFA's link with Titan FC. "We're stronger together than we were separate."

RFA's expanding map coincides in part with the respective promotion's roots. Titan FC founder Joe Kelly, who is expected to take a role with the upstart promotion, has long promoted events at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan., and RFA promoted its first three events in Kearney, Neb. Soares is based out of the Los Angeles area.

Soares, who took the job of RFA president after being pitched by owner Wayne Harriman, said the merger also gives the promotion access to Titan's content library.

The longtime manager said the RFA's chief goal is not to compete with the UFC but develop talent that could potentially advance to the industry leader.

"The problem is the talent pool of fighters is every day getting bigger, and unfortunately, the opportunity pool is getting smaller and smaller," Soares said. "I embrace all MMA events that are coming up because that's more opportunities for the fighters, and whatever I can do to further the sport, that's what I'm all about."
