| Well you'd also get the #2 overall pick, which makes it interesting. Could get Irving if he drops to 2 or Knight and we could have a young talented PG for the first time since maybe Van Exel. Or you get Williams which opens up trade possiblities with odom potentially.
Generally I agree, and I want to keep Pau, but it'd at least worth thinking about.

Not a big drop, but thank god, Lakers/Celtics is two all-time great franchises. Mavs are cool no problem with them, but it would be sad if the Beat drove the ratings up. odd cause I read this ahs been the highest rated series in the last 15 years

Thought I heard it beat skanks vs sox in a head to head matchup one of those games.

| If im lakers Im all over that deal. Love AND the #2 pick? all day.
No clue why Minny makes that deal. yeah, lets bring a 31 yr old pf who never won shit on his own into our crappy team.

| Those were the final Finals numbers, national rating...
Pau is a much better player then Love, one reason they'd do it (numbers on a horrible team are misleading), plus Pau/Rubio....and Pau's a PF/C too they need a C.
They also have that second pick, but the kind of players that are true top pick value there aren't really what they need, PG's or a PF/SF hybrid. Size is something they'd need, and the best big man in the draft is supposed to be Kanter and who knows how he'll pan out.
As a Lakers fan I'd rather have Pau then Love all day, the #2 pick makes is debatable, could get Irving if he drops, Knight, either guy solves the PG issues, or pick Williams and open up various trade options.

| I can see either side of it. Pau brings so much to the table offensively and would be a huge loss. Kobe still has game and Bynum is solid around the basket, but Odom would have to step up huge on that end of the court to make up for the lack of scorers that would be there
On the other hand, Love and Bynum would be straight brutal on the glass. Offensive boards out the ass. Plus the #2 pick even in a weak year could bring back some solid talent

| Only really for the pick, Love is not Pau, numbers on bad teams are misleading.
Pau impacts a team more then Love.

| Would you hop on this deal LA? if so, then it shows just how much is in it for the Timberwolves. It's a non-factor move for the present because they don't have enough talent overall to make selling top tier youth for a primed veteran worth it and it's a suicide move for the future. Timberwolves can't have a win now mentality because they can't win now. Firing Kevin McHale made the statement saying "we're done being the laughing stock of the trade market"...this would trump any boneheaded transaction McHale ever made. It does not matter if Pau is more of a impact player and by himself i'm not totally sure i agree with you..but even if he is..he is not THAT kind of impact player and you can't build a team around Pau Gasol. You don't part with guys like Love and #2 picks for a #2 player on a team without a #1 and under developed young talent.
Those type of rebounding numbers are rarely if ever misleading. Love is a beast on the boards and he's still a kid.
Pau is 30 and the Wolves are still ways away. This pretty much trading cornerstones for a player out of his prime in 2-3 years anyway, and this is pretty much another Pau in Memphis situation. It's insane and counter productive to a team that needs to see a rebuilding process through to the end. Trading away a 22 year old all star front court force who may very well be the best rebounder in the NBA and despite being the main and only option on a bad team, shot nearly 50% from the field so he is a good offensive player. Not that misleading. He's no one option offensively in my opinion niether is Pau Gasol. I'll go with youth here. Love will be much more useful in 2-3 years than Pau Gasol, if he's not already now...and thats just talking about a straight up Love for Gasol deal...not even beginning to entertain adding #2 at this point.
What would Pau give Minnesota? 20-9 and a losing record to go with an aging player and a missed oppurtunity to add the projected 2nd best player in the draft? I'll take 20-15, a losing record, a 22 year old all star AND the #2 pick with a rebuilding process still a go.
The only reason this is somewhat believable is the fact that Ricky Rubio is coming to Minnesota and they might think adding Gasol would make the team more marketable and Rubio more comfortable...but that would be crazy when looking at the big picture.

| Pau took the Grizz to the playoffs without that much talent around him, maybe White Chocolate and was Miller on those teams? IDR. Love put up those numbers with arguably similar talent and they promply had the worst record in the league. I like Love, liked him since college, but Mini doesn't have anyone else going up for rebounds and bad teams miss more shots.....I get what you're saying 30-30 doesn't happen for a reason, but numbers on bad teams are still misleading. And even if talking now, Pau had a bad playoofs but the dude is a great player and simply a better player then Love, he'd do more in the short run for Mini then Love could. Plus I mentioned in one of those posts, Mini may want Pau to pair and mentor Rubio. Another thing, Love is decent on O, shoots the 3 well in limited looks, but he's like a 46% shooting PF, he's decent but doesn't blow you away, I was following him for a while during the season. He's also horrible on D, I'm talking straight D, Pau isn't great but he's still better then Love. I've had this talk already and pretty much 90% on Laker fans want Pau over Love, even with that pick, it still makes it debatable cause the draft is weakish and say we don't get Irving it's Williams who we don't need or Kinight whose questionable. I'd def want Pau over Love if talking player vs player. Our defense would weaken and Love's impact on the boards would be negated by Bynum's presence. We could also possibly do better for Pau whose still a 2nd team All-NBA player, more looking at the D-Will's and CP3's of the league, packages deals, whatever... | |

Actually, those Grizzlies teams were pretty good and deep, also well coached. Gasol was their best player of course but in the early to mid 2000's Bonzi Wells, Shane Battier, Mike Miller, James Posey, Jason Williams, Earl Watson, Lorenzen Wright, and Stromile Swift were good company. The Grizzlies were a top 5 defense. Remember, Wright and Swift both averaged nearly 10-6 off the bench each and all their starters averaged double figures. That team had loads of big men and a bunch of good individual defenders. The reason they could not buy a win in the playoffs was because they could not put points on the board at the end of games but at the time with the group they had it was no suprise they put together the seasons they did. Kevin Love has no such talent around him in Minnesota and niether would Pau Gasol. Minnesota is more like the team Memphis had when they ended up having to trade Pau Gasol. A lot of high draft picks that have not panned out. .it's just not smart to trade off the only one that has panned out and then the highest pick they have had yet for a Gasol when they just don't have the talent to make bringing in a primed vet a big deal. It would pretty much blow their current rebuilding, they won't be a good team, and the last of Pau's prime is wasted.

| Also, i don't know why the Lakers may be looking to move Gasol. Their biggest problem is with thier slow, over the hill, flopper of a point guard Derek Fisher who is an automatic mismatch in favor of the opposing team 82+ games a year.
I know Lakers fans might have an unconditional love for him...but he sucks now..the clutch threes just won't make up for it anymore.. time to move the fuck on and get a point guard who can seal up the leak in the pentration lanes.
They might want to replace Artest as well for a more role type of player who will just defend and make open threes. Artest forgets his role too much mainly because he's not used to that role nor his he meant for it...and he's not a good spot up shooter which is what the SF needs to be in that offense...like Rick Fox. Ariza was a much better fit. Patch up the PG and SF and the Lakers are the favorites out West again next season.
Gasol and Bynum should be pretty much untouchable unless they get blown away with a no brainer like Kevin Love and #2 for Pau Gasol...the fact that the Lakers would not have to think about that too much and the Wolves would have to do some serious thinking should be a huge red flag.
I think there might be some subtance to Love-Gasol in a straight up deal with some throw ins to make salary work and all that...but the #2 in addition is just somebody blowing it up big time.

| OK better team, but that Battier and Posey weren't then what we remember now, still better talent, but Pau was their best player... IDK though, I get 22 years old vs 31/32, but Pau is just a more impactful player to me and that Rubio angle is something. Honestly though, I just read on ESPN, not an article those tweet section things, yeah gay, that while Mini wants Pau a lot they've only offered the #2 pick, then possibly Love but that wasn't confirmed (numbers don't match), and no real reports they offered both. We have offered Bynum and Odom for Dwight and ______ though Hope _____ ,cause another player has to be in for it to work, is Nelson PG probs no more. | |

| Artest is tradable but think he's still got a little left
Jimmy, because he's taken over pretty much for his Dad, says Bynum is untouchable unless it gets Dwight.
Yes we need a PG, badly. | |
