| Nice fight. The toughest test of his career. Probably a tougher match up than SDR style wise.

| Cormier def showed some cracks in his last fight. first and foremost imo is his size.
but he has also shown a willingness to stand and bang in previous fights. So given that Monson is a dangerous submission guy, and given that Monson is the rare heavy who will not have a reach adv vs Cormier, I think this is an instance where Cormier lets the hands fly.
Excellent fill in. | |

| I can see Cormier dominating this. He will look for the big KO. If he wins in boring fashion I think it will be because of the fight Monson brings, as in trying to make it a ground game where Cormier wraps him up for slow pounding. I expect Cormier to get it so standing and look for a big overhand though. | |

I've only watched him fight a couple times. It seemed like he bored the hell out of me in the fight before Lavar. I need to educate myself a little more about Cormier because I didn't think he liked to stand up with anyone.

| The last fight of his was the first i've seen of Daniel's where he didn't finish the guy easily. He did use Cole as a punching bag and hit him with some huge shots. I remember being surprised Cole was able to survive at all. He ate some vicious blows on th feet. | |

| Cormier's standup is pretty rudimentary. He just swings hard with overhands. I hope Monson takes this | |

I actually thought Cole's reach gave Cormier problems in the standup. And then Cormier gassed and then lay'n prayed the last rnd and a half.

| I would say problem is stretching it. Cole survived well, but was dominated. There is no argument for him having won a round, and he ate significant shots every round, had his back taken several times, was mounted, was slammed, tripped, and dragged to the mat, had to fight off submission attempts. He survived well. Gassed Cormier was still able to land uppercuts and get take downs in the third no problem. I think the Snowman is in trouble and likely gets either KO'd or GnP'd out in the 1st. | |

| Think I might be taking Monson here, we know what he brings to the table, and he has the grappling ability to shutdown Cormier's wrestling. Also Cormier has beaten really no one that quality yet, and like B said his striking is wild power shots without much technique. NSC 4 the win. | |

| AO vs Werdum
Barnett vs Rogers
Valentijn Overeem vs Chad Griggs
Carano vs D'Alelio
K J Noons vs Masvidal
Cavalcante vs Wilcox
and now Monson vs Cormier
are all these fights really set up for one card?

| I made a thread the other day about this asking if SF would do some kind of prelim thing. I bet a couple of them are just moved off that card | |

are all these fights really set up for one card? That's a nice card right there, nice work SF/Zuffa, Griggs vs Val would be the one to be moved down and although Monson vs Cormier is a great fight I'd see that getting undercard treatment as well. With only a month to go before the event I doubt any fights get moved, and I could def see 3 of them getting aired on Facebook, ION whatever...Real winners are the people going to the event.
