Haven't went into a dealership in years, so I'll ask some of you guys, can I just go in as a potential buyer and ask to test drive a certain car? or do you have to drop a deposit down or something?

Usually you can just go out and test drive them.

Not how it works buddy. If someone did that to me I would tell them to hit the bricks and go to another lot.

LA, you don't have to give up anything to take a test drive during business hours. If you keep it overnight for a 24 hour test drive then you usually agree on $, and give them insurance info and a copy of your D.L.

TEST DRIVES ARE FREE! I've never heard of a lot that requires money or a deposit to test drive a car unless it's a very high end car like a Corvette, Lambo, etc. Usually expensive muscle cars require an agreement on $ before you drive.

Let me know if you need any help with pricing or getting a good rate. I know you won't come to the ville to buy from me, but I will help ya in any way.

Our insurance dictates that a salesman must be on the test drive and most dealers are like that. I never drive the vehicle off the lot. I let the customer drive and go wherever they want.

You are the boss for the most part when looking at a car. Unless it is a newer car that just came out and dealers are marking them up like when the PT Cruiser came out. No test drive and we marked them up 2g's when they first came out and people paid top dollar for them. Now they are mass produced and suck dick! Worst car ever, and I know a guy that spent almost $35k for one of the first to hit the roads here in Kentuckiana back in the day.

How stupid was that guy!

Yeah, that is pretty stupid. $35k, you could be rolling around in a Beemer, decent sports car, or a nice truck.

PT Cruisers = the biggest ripoff ever. Its a Dodge Neon with a different body.

Thanks Beast, you were the guy I wanted to hear from most.

Car is actually a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR (funny with ^), low production car so I was guessing there might be some kind of deposit agreement.

Tell you how it is when I end up going into the dealership.
