Fighting and Entertainment Group on Thursday evening announced a long-rumored bantamweight grand prix, which begins on May 29 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

The tournament, which has been titled the DREAM Japan Grand Prix, is expected to feature eight fighters: Keisuke Fujiwara, Masakazu Imanari, Yoshiro Maeda, Kenji Osawa, Takafumi Otsuka, Hideo Tokoro, Darren Uyenoyama and Atsushi Yamamoto.

Other good news along with this.
There will be other fights on the card as well, featuring: Shinya Aoki, Mitsuhiro Ishida, Joachim Hansen, (Caol Uno), Akiyo "Wicky" Nishiura, & Katsunori Kikuno.

The idea is to run the May event and then have a second event in July. The promotion claims that they want to book Bibiano Fernandes & Joe Warren in the future. Tournament matches are expected to be announced next week.

American fans will get a chance to see DREAM's first live effort since the devastating earthquake in Japan.

HDNet CEO Andrew Simon today told MMAjunkie.com
(www.mmajunkie.com) that "DREAM.17: Fight for Japan," which takes place
Sunday at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, is set to broadcast on
HDNet via tape delay.

The event airs next Friday, June 3, at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

HDNet has long been the stateside broadcast partner of the Japanese
promotion, though its broadcast plans for DREAM.17 had remained unknown
until now.

DREAM.17, which serves as a fundraiser to benefit victims of the
earthquake and tsunami, hosts the first round of the 2011 Japan Cup
Bantamweight tournament.
