Sorry "Sin City" fight fans.

Just a short time after Jon Fitch suffered a shoulder injury and pulled out of his rematch against B.J. Penn at UFC 132, "The Prodigy" has done the same, according to MMAFighting.com.

Penn suffered an undisclosed injury and will no longer appear on the card, which is scheduled to go down on July 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Initially, it looked as though Carlos Condit, or even Anthony Johnson, would step in to fill the void left by Fitch, as both claimed they were more than up for the job.

However, it appears Penn's ailment is severe enough to keep him out of action. There is no word yet on whether the UFC will attempt to reschedule the rematch between Penn and Fitch at a later date when both are healthy.

Undisclosed injury...yeah...sounds to me like he didn't want to put his reputation on the line against someone like Condit.

Not buying it, what is with this dude if he doesn't steam roll people and someone actually has the ability to fight him he gets scared, fuck man, so what if Fitch is out, you are a legend act like one, undisclosed injury, you can do better then that.

I don't think Penn wants to either. I'm positive he'd rather fight Condit than Fitch.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has confirmed with sources close to the Hawaiian that the UFC is not currently seeking an opponent for Penn, and "The Prodigy" will instead return to action at a later date.

Penn had been expected to take part in a rematch at the July 2 event with Jon Fitch (23-3-1 MMA, 13-1-1 UFC), but the perennial welterweight contender in March was forced to withdraw from the bout with a shoulder injury.

Sources indicated while the UFC was actively seeking a new opponent, Penn preferred to reschedule his next contest.

Bj only has a few fights left in him, why not go out against the best wws out there. I really wanted to see him against fitch more than condit. Remember too condit originally turned down a fight with fitch at the begining of the year for he said it wouldnt be the best/easiest way to a title for him. Bj vs kos/fitch/shields and possibly alves would be the best way for bj to go out on a high. If he loses to them, we he lost to the best the division had to offer

What does Penn have to be scared of exactly? He fought and arguably beat the best welterweight in the world once, dethroned the best welterweight in the world prior to that, fought a heavyweight once and all of a sudden he's afraid of a guy who has looked less than stellar in a move from the WEC until just recently? Right. Where is the coup in fighting someone as low on the ladder as Condit right now? He just went to a draw with Jon Fitch and should now move from the 2nd ranked welterweight in the world to someone who wasn't even ranked in the top ten until he knocked Dan Hardy out?
