| I don't think the scoring system is as much of a problem as some of the judges. The array of inconsistencies on any given night is a testament to that. There needs to be a procedural reform in regards to fight scoring. The best ideas I've seen have been out there a while. Trainers, coaches and retired fighters with no conflict of interest need to be at the table. Doesn't mean removing all current judges from the equation, simply increasing the scope of perspective for how fights are judged. | |

| I agree with Bird. I am not opposed to a 15 min or 25 min fight with no rounds and scoring the fight as a whole. However, since that is likely never to happen with state athletic commissions, I think the 10 point system is the fairest way to determine who won and lost. Judging the fight as a whole is ripe for shady decisions because judges dont have to justify their scores in any way. With the 10 point system, we can see if a judge clearly scored a round incorrectly, and potentially, not have that judge return to the events if this is shown consistently. Judges just need to be more familiar with judging criteria. | |

Exactly, more educated judges. Former fighters and trainers would be ideal. | |
