| Did anyone else notice it was a headbutt that cut Kampmann? I was 99% sure watching it live and after watching the replay I'm 100% sure it was a headbutt during an exchange. You can see right after that Kamp starts messing with his eye and that is when Deigo really starting pushing forward. | |

| I saw the headbutt too. It was in the same spot where he suffered that ridiculous gash from a year ago. When they went to the ground, Sanchez immediately rubbed his hand in that area to re-open the wound.
I thought Sanchez' last cut was probably good enough to stop the fight. What happened at the end of round two where Sanchez fell backwards? Was he knocked down?

No I think he was just backpedaling and when Kampman put his hand on him he just lost his balance. I don't think it was a knock down.

Yes kampmann landed more strikes but diego was in his face the whole time. Close fight and could of gone either way but considereing how dominant kampmann was in the first and the looks of diegos face I would have to give that one to mark.
Landing more strikes and cleaner strikes > pushing foward IMO. Just because Deigo has a ton of heart and a great chin and was able to push forward while getting punched doesn't mean he was winning. i agree OU, if pushing forward while getting beat up wins you fights then fuck, ill win a few in the ufc all I said was he was the aggresor and made it a fight I gave it to kampmann via percentage of shots landed prob 3-1

| nah but because of the aggresiveness he did make it a dog fight and I gave him the third and the second was kinda close but diego got tooled so bad in the first that should of been the deciding round 10-8 imo. | |

| Stuffing takedowns should count for more. I kind of figured that's how Machida won the first fight with Rua, by blocking his takedowns every round. I guess they didn't factor in this fight at all. | |

| I think we need to ditch the judging by round system or start giving out more 10-10s, 10-8s and the occasional 10-7. That was it could be scored more accurately. We all saw Kampmann dominate the first. The next 2 were close (I have Kampmann) and obviously could have gone either way since there is this controversy. So why not score it like R1 - 10-9 Kampmann R2 - 10-10 R3 - 10-10 Final: Kampmann wins 30-29.
or
R1 - 10-8 Kampmann R2 - 10-9 Diego R3 - 10-9 Diego Final: Draw
Both these outcomes seem more accurate than what the judges did who almost always stay on a rigid 10-9 scoring.

yup, agree with this Why? You don't get points for blocking punches or power punches.

Both these outcomes seem more accurate than what the judges did who almost always stay on a rigid 10-9 scoring. I've been on this kick for ever. I've never understood why in a 10 point system the seperation between fighter tallies is 1 point 95% of the time. Im thinking the half point system they are trying out at the lower levels(in Ca I think) will provide similar results. Hopefully it makes it's way through.
