5 Round Main/Co Main Events Need To Happen NOW

Fitch could have finished off BJ or at least ended the controversy. Hell maybe even BJ could have pulled off a sick late sub ala Anderson.

But this fight is just another in a long line of fights that needed to go 5.

I'll have to disagree. They are called championship rounds for a reason. Only title fights should be 5 rounds.

I used to agree but there are 2 many great main events that end to soon when only fighting 3 rounds.

Its too hard to call it a #1 contender fight and be 100% correct. Too many other scenarios could pop up. People get hurt. Poor performances. Great performances. Upsets. ETC

non-title five round fights is the dumbest idea ever.

more fighting between the best fighters > less fighting between the best fighters.

Making them 5 rounds I think would settle alot of fights that always leave us guessing.

Yea, most of those fights didn't deserve to be five round fights much less even main events. Look if you're cool with the UFC doing tactics like this to convince people non title less worthy main events are worth the same 50 bucks that title fights are then hey, that's cool. I'm not. And anyway, had the BJ fight been five rounds we probably wouldn't have seen the other fights on the undercard.

BJ Penn, Rampage, Machida, Forrest, & Rich have all been the best at one point. They're still good enough to warrant a maximum of 10 extra min.

Thats a good point.

10 fights were scheduled to be shown. They showed an 11th because the had extra time & a fight ended quickly earlier.

More BJ & Fitch > 11th best fight on a card.

Another good point.

Championship rounds means something for a reason. The answer to this problem is the inclusion of the flyweight division adding more five round fights, not second rate main events just lasting longer.

Hamill vs Jardine should have been a 5 rnder? Okami Munoz?

U can't say any close fight should be 5 rnds. These guys all know how many rnds the fight was b4 the rnd started. And if they want to end the fight, or if they want to win a decisive decision then do it in 3 rds.

And we don't have to look far to find a 5 rnd fight that was more controversal then any on this list.

what? u weren't dieing to see rnd 4 of Shields vs Kampmann?

So some people would've wanted Mir vs Cro Cop to be a scheduled 5 rounder? Mir would've probably not went for the ko if it were a 5 rounder until the 5th rd then.
