Ex-Strikeforce fighter Bobby Lashley headlines HDNet's Titan FC 17 on March 25

Former WWE star and ex-Strikeforce fighter Bobby Lashley returns to the cage on March 25 to headline the HDNet-televised Titan Fighting Championships 17 event.

Officials today announced Lashley (5-1) fights M-1 Challenger James Jack (6-2-1) at the show.

The event takes place March 25 at Historic Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan.

A previously announced bout between Phil Baroni and Nick Nolte co-headlines the show.

"We received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from the MMA community following our HDNet debut on Jan. 28," stated Titan Fighting CEO Joe Kelly, who featured an Abe Wagner vs. Tim Sylvia headliner this past month. "A lot of unique opportunities have presented themselves to Titan since the show, and working with Bobby Lashley was one of them. We are really excited to be working with Bobby as he continues his pursuit of MMA greatness."

Lashley opened his MMA career in 2008 with five consecutive wins, including a first-round TKO of Wes Sims in his 2010 Strikeforce debut. But later that year, he suffered a second-round TKO loss to Chad Griggs and then severed ties with the promotion.

The Kansas native and amateur-wrestling champion at Missouri Valley College now fights close to home. Some questioned whether the former WWE fighter would give up the sport altogether.

Jack enters the fight on a four-fight win streak, though he hasn't competed since December 2009. Five of his six wins have come via stoppage, four via knockout. One of his lone losses came to "The Ultimate Fighter 2" runner Brad Imes back in 2008.

ya he just wanted cans to make him look good then got scared when he got punched in the face.

Unless he was making inhuman demands of Strikeforce payroll wise, big mistake letting him walk loss or not.

i dont care if its a huge blow for SF, as a fan of MMA i wasnt interested in seeing him again

If he is real about staying in MMA then he will be in SF or UFC soon. Does have to win this fight though.

Did SF cut him or are they just allowing him to fight outside the organization like they do? I bet if he wins he will be back in SF.

I don't think he was signed to a multi fight contract.

UFC would have no interest, but I think he will be back in SF if he wins.

A win then feeding him to Cormier wouldn't be bad.

Then why didn't they keep Kimbo and Toney and make Kimbo vs Toney? Money would have been made.

They gave Kimbo a chance and def made money off him, but cut him based on talent. Toney will get one more fight at most, we are still talking about a Boxing Champ with him. I couldn't picture the UFC taking Lashley having lost in SF to Griggs not too long ago.

All Lashley has to do is win a couple of fights and SF or UFC book him.

Why were they ever booked to begin with is the better question? Keeping them around is different then initially booking them to begin with.

I don't think the UFC would accept Lashley after failing in SF , even if they could make a buck off of it.

SF for sure, but you could see the UFC signing him after 2 wins or so with that L in SF to Griggs not to long ago? They usually stay away from situations like that.
