Cocky has become a buzzword for Jon Jones, that's not the type of thing that just happens from one event, it develops over time.
It's weird, I think he is in a lose lose situation, he either losses to Shogun or continues to lose fans if he remains successful. Factor in the best tend to be the most criticized and people like Shogun or whatever, but I think Jones does it to himself more than those factors.

I think if he wins he will have a huge fan base, which typically comes with a huge amount of haters.

Yeah he will of course. There are always frontrunner fans. He could go 30-1 then lose to an armbar and people will write him off as a can. Come and go.
A lot of people are not fans of Anderson Silva. He is a great fighter and champ. He had more mma fans 3 years ago than he does today I'd bet. Some of that is behavior in fights, but it comes back to attitude. Most top guys don't catch any kind of this flack. I think Jones is leaking fake.

Imagine if someone like Bisping had made some of the comments Jones has made about Anderson, Bader, Thiago, and Shogun. There would be hell to pay. The best guys don't have to tell people they are.

Lol, No, not yet, he doesn't have much going for him in the whole do I like the guy department. I need to update that list too.
But jones would be better off embracing his cocky self then trying to hide it like he does. He isn't fooling anyone. Maybe maturity will level him out.

I pick Bones to win this. I can see Shogun getting a KO, but if they fought numerous times I would take Bones. This guy is the future! Watch and see.

I'm not sure he is a cocky person. It's not like he is grabbing the mic and telling the current Champion and Hall of Famer "I'm not impressed with your performance". Cause that would be a pretty cocky move for a young fighter.

I'm getting sick of Rua's cocky shtick. He really thinks he can KO Bones, please.

I agree with Beast. I think Jones is the future of this division. The guy not only has the technical tools, but the physical tools as well. I can absolutely see Shogun ko'ing him, but I think the more likely scenario is Jones via gnp, leading to either a decision or tko.

Bones has a grappling advantage? I don't know about that. This could very well be the finish to the fight.
Lets ask pro tough grappler Ricardo Arona for his take: "Well how does Jones respond to getting punched?"
The control and focus of Rua's devastation is not something that is taught. It is something he gives.

Bader, Janitor, Vera, Hamill. How are those guys fighting off their back. Probably a gajillion times better than Shogun every imagined he could one day be. Yeah Right! Bonnar and Gusmao off their back though, totally different story. And what, I ask, was the difference?

GDP, are you saying Shogun is bad on the ground? Kinda hard to tell your stance on that.

LOL, look at the pictures he posted. He thinks that is how Shogun could possibly finish Jones. It's very clear GDP thinks Shogun will rape Jones.

What separates Shogun and those other two from the last four Bones opponents is competency in the offensive department off their back. Best BJJ Bones has faced yet is this Saturday. A guy who won BJJ Mundial after only a few years, prodigy style.
