UFC 129 will smash the North American attendance record

The Rogers Centre is the size of an NFL venue, and while I am sure they won't even try to sellout the venue to the capacity they could(67k plus for this kind of event) but with two Canadians in title fights on the card, with one being GSP, the other being from Ontario, this event is going to be a big-fucking-deal in Canada. The card will also feature Couture vs Machida and at least 5 other Canadians.

I'm not huge on this card yet but u are probably right it will do big numbers in Canada.

Champ Jose Aldo vs. Mark Hominick (for featherweight title)*
Randy Couture vs. Lyoto Machida*
Phil Davis vs. Matt Hamill
Mark Bocek vs. Ben Henderson

Diaz-McDonald may replace Bocek-Henderson I would imagine

I just think GSP beats Shields easily and Machida destroys Randy. So I just dont see the intrigue of a normal UFC card for me. Not to mention I FUCKING HATE GSP!!!!!! Watching him win makes me ill.

Cant help it I just dont see GSP having a ton of trouble with Shields and Machida shouldnt have any with Randy either. Just my opinion. I will still order it but it isnt one of the top cards of the year to me.

I was saying it the other day, Card is straight ridiculous, one of the better cards on paper I can remember. Breaking the N. American attendance record for MMA, most likely.

If they were thinking 30-40 without Hominick, they could do 40 with him I am sure.

Cain was speculated but I don't get the impression their prediction was predicated on that. I don't know that any people would have gone for Cain that won't for Hominick. Having another Canadian in a title fight I think is huge. I think for every one who wouldn't attend because Cain isn't on the GSP card, another casual may be gained because of the significance the event now takes on with two Canadians, one local.

The front page headline on TSN.com(ESPN equivalent) about FFTT2 was naturally Hominick. This fight will have a higher profile in mainstream and Canadian sports culture I believe than even a UFC HW bout. Cain is Mexican, not Canadian, remember.

Not sure why they'd leave it out when it was originally supposed to be on the card, and it is a HW Title fight, but the point was more so that it was replaced by Aldo/Hominick which makes up for losing the HW Title fight, and the card as a whole improved tremendously, Machida and Randy on that card too? crazy.

I am looking forward to this card because of the big names, but I think it will be a disappointing card in the end. 126 is certainly the sexier card of the year so far in MMA.

I'm going to this show, because my aunt lives in Hamilton, ON. I get to stay there for free. I'm assuming this will be the coolest show ever. I can't imagine the energy of the crowd with 2 Canadian champs going at it.
