| Last night Guillard looked awesome in knocking out Dunham but what Im wondering was this more of Guillard being better than most of us thought or was a alittle bit of Dunham not being as good as we thought? I think it maybe a fair question after Dunham loss to Sherk and now got KOed by Melvin. Im not saying Dunham is a bum by any means but it maybe safe to say some of us around here may have over valued him alittle. I guess only time will tell if he can rebound from this loss and be great or will he just be good. | |

| I've been on Guillard after his impressive showing against Dennis Siver. I think people highly underestimate him.
The dude is only 27 and has like 60 pro MMA fights...he will be a FORCE in the UFC a year or two farther on down the line.

Def a bit of both. Guillard's standup looks real good. Def on another level then Dunham. And Guillard has also shown an ability to get the fight back to standing after he has been taken down. Im more comfortable putting Melvin in the top 10 now, then I was putting Dunham in prior. 6-1 in his last 7 UFC fights.

| To me it was def more about Dunham, not that he's not as good as we thought just that as soon as Melvin landed he was done fighting. He looked like he was fighting scared the rest of the fight. I don't think he was fighting rocked I think he felt Melvins power and started to fight to live other than fight to win.
That said props to Melvin.

| I think Melvin has just taken his game to the next level over the past year or two. He fights a lot different now than before, he is still improving. | |

| Guillard has just found a proper camp to reign in his athleticism and improve his ground game. He's the real deal
Dunham got tagged by a guy that's a lot faster than him and put away. He's still one of the most well-rounded LWs out there that can beat nearly everyone in the division. I don't put that much into it

| Nothing last night really surprised me. Melvin has very, very good stand up and good take down defense. He will faultier against power wrestlers, ace submission guys, or very technical strikers. Evan Dunham is not any of those three. I picked and laid money on Melvin too win for your information. I think Evan would have a better fight if he had faces Kenny. Styles make fights. Melvin would lose to most, if not all guys in the top ten. | |

Nice! I think u were probably 1 of the few around here picking him so thats a nice call. I knew his stand up was very good but i underestimated his takedown defense by a long shot.

| Dunham isn't overrated and Guiard isn't underestimated. Melvin has excellent coaching now that he is at Jackson's and one of the things they do is minimize the mistakes of the fighter and drill the game plan into their heads. Look at the results they have had on Guida. | |

Dunham was a NP top 10. I think Guillard could give alot of guys in the top 10 trouble.

| Doesn't devalue Dunham, Melvin just was prepared and fought a great fight. If anything this just shows again how difficult every fight is in the UFC. Every matchup is so unique, most of us from what we've seen from Dunham and Guillard's track record were expecting Evan to have not much difficulty in getting him down and locking up a sub; Melvin's speed and power instead ended up being the difference. Got to honest though when I saw both fighters standing in the cage while Buffer was doing his thing, I had a feeling Guillard was gonna finish him, weird thing.
Dunham will bounce back, and Melvin will add more interesting matchups, the camp switch has really helped his career. Funny enough, I wouldn't mind Sherk as the next fight for either guy.

| To address the first post, I don't think it was either. If you looked at this fight, you saw a clear stylistic objective/advantage for each figther. Melvin had the superior stand up, both in technique and power heading into this fight and Dunham had the superior ground game. Therefore, it all came down to the middle ground. Was Dunham's wrestling good enough to get Melvin to the ground and keep him there or was Melvin's wrestling good enough to keep it standing. I picked Dunham on the GOR because I have never been impressed with Melvin's wrestling and thought Dunham would be able to put him down, keep him there, and submit him. However, Melvin's wrestling looked much improved and since he was able to keep it standing, it was only a matter of time before he finished Dunham, just as it would have only been a matter of time until Dunham submitted Melvin if he got him flat on the ground. The question is, whether Melvin can keep it standing against someone like Edgar or Maynard, or even outstrike them. | |

I think Melvin's ground game has been getting better and better since he has been at Greg Jackson's. What do you think Jimbo? You give him a shot at keeping it standing vs Frankie?

| Frankie has great transitions into takedowns but I don't think he's big enough to hold anybody down. Especially not a big, strong guy like Melvin | |

Yeah and Melvin is pretty explosive and a good athlete. Might be hard for Frankie. But with his quickness and transitions he might be able to. I think Maynard is strong enough to hold Melvin down.

I think Miller would own Melvin, he is just too strong of a grappler. I'd like to see Melvin vs Pettis. Just for entertainment.
