Pettis vs Guida at UFC 130 or 131

Anthony Pettis said he wouldn't wait around for Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard to settle their differences and it looks like he's making good on that promise.

That's because the dynamic striker and current WEC lightweight champion has reportedly agreed to square off against 155-pound ball of energy Clay Guida, according to Heavy.com.

The match-up is being targeted for sometime in the Spring, at either UFC 130, which is tentatively scheduled for May 28 in Las Vegas, or UFC 131, which is rumored for June 11 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Dangerous fight. They should have made Pettis-Miller and Shalorus-Guida. Should have switched it up.

Pettis should win this.

I hope he does but it certainly isn't set in stone. I could def see Guida grinding out the decision here, but I'm hoping Pettis puts Clay on a HL reel.

If it was the Guida of a year ago, I would take pettis, but now I am not sure.

This sounds like a hell of a fight!

Pettis just fought a better version of Guida, Bendo is Guida 2.0; Clay will do his thing and stay in the fight, but I got Pettis here just by being a more complete fighter.

Bendo doesnt move like Guida with the head movement that will frastrate Pettis.

Guida did that for one fight because he knew Gomi would knock him out if he landed anything. I hope and pray that he doesn't fight that same style against other people because it was hard to watch

The winner of this better not get a title fight. The UFC does great matchmaking in other divisions bit this shit is a fucking trainwreck.

Well, probably the least dangerous of the potential "prove yourself" fights for Pettis, but it will do and a win here would be a good one. I think Pettis will win this by decision.

It did frustrate Gomi no doubt, but if you ask me that head movement has Pettis head kick written all over it. I think Pettis outclasses Guida here.

Pettis was just about to get a Title shot, not wanting a long layoff they gave him a fight in the meantime. Guida is still around a top 15 LW, Pettis wins the fight he gets the shot he was already about to get, only thing I see wrong with this is giving him a scrappy opponent like Guida for his Title fight tuneup.

Aside from both having long hair, I don't see the comparison, Guida is a top control grinder with unorthodox standup skills.

And the most recent hair fling version of Guida is one that I believe we will see more often. For one it keeps the hair out of his eyes, 2ndly it is so unorthodox it is hard for an opponent to time, it def had Gomi baffled.

And I see this fight as trouble for Pettis, because of Guida's control ability.
