| Usually they annonce just the biggest news. Shogun KOs Machida, Cain KO's Brock, Anderson subs Sonnen, UFC absorbs WEC, etc.,. This tourney is a bigger deal then a lot of people realize. It's the reason UFC went on ION last weekend. They are saving all of the live slots they can from their SPike allotment to counter SF shows this year. | |

| This HW tournament is the best thing to happen in MMA since the Pride days. I can't think of anything that I have been more excited about. | |

| I agree. The tournament is the most popular format in sports. For MMA it played a big part in the intrigue of the early UFC's and it put Pride on the map in 2000. The US doesn't easily allow for those kind of tourney's anymore(25minute maximum for a fighter in one day) but this is as good as it gets. | |

That's your opinion on it, but more then likely they are using it as a bargaining tool against Spike whose contract with them ends in 2011.

| As much as I like the fighters and for as good as I think Cain and a couple of others are, 2011 ends with the Strikeforce Heavyweight Title being more important and prestigious than UFC Heavyweight title. The UFC knows that. | |

I wouldnt go that far. The tourney is nice but lets remember Overeem has said the title doesnt mean a whole lot as have others, so I dont think this tourney makes all the guys care about the SF title as much as u might think. Its probably more about winning the tourney and thed title is just a bonus.

| If Reem or Fedor go through, obviously unbeaten, 3-0 in 2011, I'd rank either above Cain due to the layoff, still think Cain is the best "Who beats Who" HW right now though.
I think it's all about the Title and the tourney is a bonus though

The Grand Prix Champion, the Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion, and the true MMA Heavyweight Lineal Champion are going to be the same person at the conclusion of this and will have went through a terrific series of fights to be there in this year.

| Its really no different than what Cain would have went through if he hadnt gotten hurt. Brock, JDS, and maybe Carwin all in a years time. | |

| StrikeForce is doing this and plan on it being done by fall.
People are talking about fights the UFC did 2 years ago as if it was part of some grand tournament.

| I see it as actually just being the way the Title fight should have been setup, the #1 contenders match should have been setup, then saying if Barnett, Rogers, AA or Serg wins their next 2, they get a shot, and just slapping Prix on it. We all have opinions | |

I will say they didn't go all in on the tourney, they def hedged their bet a little. Still the tourney exists, there is a set structure, their are reserve brackets, this is more then slapping a label on a series of fights.
