Dana actually cares about Chuck and wanted him to hang em up before even that Franklin fight really. Enough is enough

He's fine at it and it was handle as it should have been, how many MMA fighters get great farwell tours in any Org? This isn't boxing. Chuck was given great fights, then that one last great fight with Franklin, he was sadly KO'd, lets send him out there agan to get possibly KO'd by someone else.

Gasol man of the team? great player but what?

I don't think a farewell tour really means that the man on his way out has to win for it to be a good one. Losing is an honorable way to retire. It's kind of a torch passing. You just don't want to see the guy on his farewell tour getting knocked out cold every time. The dreamfight with Wanderlei would have been a good time to walk, win or lose. If not that, the other dreamfight with Shogun should have been it, like Dana wanted.

Kobe 1st in scoring Per 48, top 5 in scoring, top 5 in Per, and although Gasol was beasting early, hasn't ben playing well late even if Kobe hasn't either. Kobe is the man, that's why we're back to back Champs. If this is a reaction to us losing games, same as the last year if the 3-Peat, complacent team coming off 3 straight Finals appearances and 2 straight Chips. They know when everything is really decided. And when did Phil say that? the triangle runs inside out but never heard him say anything like that.

look when I think Farewell tour It means just that

fighters being paraded around, we all now their near the end, they fight a bum in cities that normally didnt get to see them before its all said and done

Anyone remember Julio Cesar Chavez's fareewell tour? he didnt come close to winning some of those fights yet Chavez enjoyed it, made millions, and hundreds of thousands of his fans got to see him 1 last time

Link

I love people who react to 1 or two off games, then Kobe busts the Spurs and Mavs in the playoffs, Kobe was old last year, then killed everyone in the Western playoffs.

And Kobe takes 5 more shots a game then Gasol, Gasol needs to be more aggresive but has been getting eaten up inside by nobodies lately.

And this isn't boxing, no one wants to see Chuck keep getting sentout and dropped, Dana made the right call. You honestly want Chuck fighting bums just to maybe get a win?

Coming from fighting huge fights his whole career? They tried giving him that last great fight with Franklin, he was KO'd badly with not really one of Rich's best shots. You can't go Shogun to a bum or mid level guy, or what if Chuck fought Hammill and was KO'd badly?

Wandy type fights were perfect for him, also he fought once a year for 3 straight years that palyed a factor IMO as well. Same thing De La Hoya did near the end, Wandy was a guy still in the upper echelon of the division but clearly wasnt at his prime anymore. Hell he was 1-2 going into the Chuck fight. They should have done a Jardine rematch for starters.

Jardine fell off in oblivion

Long story short, it was handled fine, Dana made the right calls, and you can't really compare this to a boxing situation.

You can't look at it in retrosepct and say, well Chuck shouldn't have fought Rashad after if just beat Wandy, things were different at the time. Chuck was given a great fight with Franklin, he was KO'd for the 3rd straight time.

i would have rather he go out with a win, against someone outside the top ten would work

I totally get what the Birdmans trying to preach here...

Give a legend who has just been KO'd 3 straight times, 4 times in 6 fights and lost 5 of 6 fights a fight against a bum so he can just get a win, but forget that at this point it could all go wrong and have Chuck being dropped a 4th straight time.

lets say he lost to Jardine, Beat Wandy, beat Jardine (who had not completely fallen off yet, he lost to Wandy right after Chuck beat him it would have been a perfect time, especially after Jardine beat Vera at the end of 08) have Chuck beat Wandy, then revenge the loss to Jardine in 08. His career coulda been handled different. Not saying it wasnt handled great just saying they coulda made it last longer.

And coming off that great win against Wandy, Chuck was back in contention

No, I'm saying you able to set this up now so perfectly (even though it doesn't work because Chuck was back in contention after beating Wandy) because everyone has perfect vision when you know how things already worked out.
