| I've been waiting to see Jones against a legitimate ground threat with a chin that can grind. I love this match-up. This will speak volumes about Jones game right now. If he works Hamill, I will finally jump on that wagon... | |

| Hamill is in trouble in this one. He loves to stand up waaay too much when he needs to use his strength and wrestling. | |

| Hamill is a more inspirational version of Jake O'Brien with much worse hand speed and boxing fundamentals. His division 9 wrestling pedigree and silver medal in the deaf people Olympics doesn't make me think his wrestlings much better than O'Brien who has out wrestled decent HW's like Herring.
This is a step sideways in competition.
Jones by video game highlight KO.

| Hamill may not be a very skilled striker, but he is improving. To scoff at his "division 9" wrestling skills is funny to me. The problem here is that you don't quote, "think his wrestlings much better than O'Brien". His wrestling is much better than O'Brien's. If Jones doesn't land that shot (Hamill has a pretty damn good chin) to end it and Hamill gets ahold of him on the ground, Jones is likely going to be in a world of hurt. Hamill can grind him on the ground and wear his poor conditioning ass right out. This is a very tough test for Jones. Yes, he could end it with a highlight reel KO... Or Hamill can wear his ass right down and GnP a victory right out of him.
I think this is a great match-up.

Touche... I think it's a bit better than Jones', but you're right. I still think this is a very interesting match-up, and not as one sided as some are making it.

| Jones may very well beat the piss out of Hamill, I don't see it but it could happen. The problem I have with Jones is that I haven't seen enough of him to know if he is the real deal or not. Obviously, he dominated an aging, post-steroid use Bonnar...but that win isn't what it used to be. (Unless you're Mark Coleman)
If he handles Hamill the same way he did Bonnar it will be very impressive. Not likely, though. It will be a tough fight.

| I'd take Jake O'brien's Big 10 wrestling experience over Matt Hamill's. I didn't wrestle in highschool, but I suspect a three time Indiana state champion and Big 10 wrestler isn't significantly more or less skilled than a deaflympics medalist division III champion.
Everyone makes so much to do with how Brock's wrestling pedigree is much better than Carwin's right?
This fight doesn't represent a step up in competition. O'brien is by far the crisper striker. This fight does nothing for me.

| Munoz and Reese Andy, who both were Hammill' last 2 opponents have division 1 wrestling experience and both did not show stronger wrestling so i wud say hammill's wrestling is better then's O'brien but tht jus my opinion
this is a tuff fight for Jones and am interested to see this one

| Didn't see the Reese Andy fight, nor do I know his credentials, but iirc didn't Munoz get decapitated rather early without any displays of wrestling? | |

The competition around here is MUCH higher in wrestling than anywhere else around the country and thats why the Big 10 is the best wrestling conference in the country.

| I'm surprised Spurs didn't say Pac10 wrestlers of the year are the best ever....
One thing about Hamill though is he has great MMA wrestling. Probably better than his pedigree suggests. I still think he has a lot of natural limitations(not talking about his hearing) like speed and cordination. I think he will always be a victim for a dangerous striker.
In this I feel he is almost a step back from Jake O'Brien, whom everyone relegates to can-status despite his only losses being to AA when he started his career resurgence, highly touted uncrowned champion in many people's minds Cane, and Jon Jones, in 7 UFC fights. Striking wise, I think he is far ahead of Hamill, KO of Munoz or not, if you look at his boxing fundamentals. O'brien landed some good clean shots on Jones and if Jones had a weaker chin he may not have survived long enough to exploit his lack of range with the kicks he used later in the fight and set up that pimp ass choke.

Dont get me started with Pac-10 wrestlers! lol... but i jus had a problem with u dogging on hammill because he was D-3 and competed in deaf olympics, guy is a very good wrestler as for O'Brian, he's a very good wrestler and has only lost to some tuff tuff opponents so i wudnt call him a can but hes young yet and hes in the rite division now

| The state of Oklahoma has some solid wrestlers. ISU is always up there too, but overall the Big XII doesn't that THAT much wrestling. | |
