| Why not? Big unifying fight as they merge together and Pettis has everything needed to turn into a huge star with an impressive performance | |

| Yes, this wasn't the absorption of some lil org, WEC LW division is not as good as UFC, but it's close and easy to argue it was as good or better than SF's or Japan's. Their final champ is a top competitor. | |

| They never unified Condit's Title, but there really isn't another like stonecold legit contender out there, I'm also a big Pettis fan though. It also adds a lot to the merger.
Why would KenFlo go? | |

| I think on the one hand he actually hasn't earned, but on the other, there is nobody i'd rather see get the shot.
That was a great performance by a young fighter, and I would have said that even b4 the off the wall kick.
Bendo showed himself well also.

Why would KenFlo go? The reason why that logic doesn't make as much sense to me is they merged that division almost two years ago. The WEC under Zuffa has had a lot of classic title wars contested at a high level since then. An extra 22 months or so of development means a lot to the division. That was then. This is now. What is more "fair" in light of the fact the other two existing WEC champions became UFC champions without actually fighting in the UFC at all, is giving the WEC champion the chance to become world champion.

| I only commented on the fact that Condit wasn't awarded a Title shot, lets not forget his run as Champ was far more impressive then Bendo, and now Pettis who just won the Title last night. That fact that no contender has seperated himself from the rest and the added appeal of the merger are the only real reasons that they should just Unify the Titles. | |

| I don't see how he doesn't deserve the shot seeing as there is no other clear cut contender in the UFC. Sotiropoulus has been getting quality wins but not the kind attributed to contenders. Jim Miller has only lost to the current champ and current number one contender. It's the general consensus that Miller and Sotiroupulus should fight it out for next shot. It's feasible Pettis represents a viable challenge on paper to either Edgar or Maynard. He has an excellent sprawl, the kind of striking to serve problems for anyone looking to shoot in, and he has the kind of speed to match Edgar's erratic footwork. He just showed some grappling prowess last night, even when he had his back taken he didn't get choked and got his own grappling victories last night. | |

Ludo... Diego Sanchez beat Clay Guida and Joe Stevenson. Frankie's last fight before BJ was against Matt Veach. Ken Flo beat J-Lau, Huerta, and Stevenson in his three fights leading up to BJ. Stevenson in the fight immediately before BJ, beat Batman.George's last three wins are against J-Lau, Stevenson, and Batman. So, technically speaking, those are exactly the kind of wins attributed to contenders.

| If you want to throw someone at Pettis, I would go the Dunham route. He is tough, smart and has great BJJ and is respected. | |

When Diego beat Stevenson he was still top 10. When Kenny beat Stevenson he was still top 10. Stevenson beat Pellegrino, yes, but right before that he tore through Melvin Guillard and had a very solid record of 28-7(5-1 in the UFC) when he fought BJ Penn for a VACANT title belt. http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles/6/Sherdog-Official-Mixed-Martial-Arts-Rankings-19884Diego got his shot because BJ had just about cleared the division in the UFC having just beaten Kenny Florian and Sean Sherk. Maynard wasn't ready, Edgar wasn't ready, and the rest of the top ten wasn't even in the UFC. Diego had just been in a candidate(and eventual winner) of fight of the year so they struck while the iron was hot. Aussie George's best win to date has been Stevenson who was teetering on the very edge of the top ten if he was even there at all when they fought.

| Ludo - even if these names weren't the exact same names most other title challengers beat right before their bid these are still top UFC names. J-Lau and Batman in fact are regarded much higher. Stevenson had been the LW gatekeeper until Danzig knocked him out of that role.

| Well by doing that the UFC will also be saying that LWs from the WEC are just as viable as UFC LWs. There are a lot of casual fans who are not familiar with the WEC, this will show that the UFC considers them equals. | |
