| http://mmajunkie.com/news/21412/dana-white-fond-of-alistair-overeem-but-says-top-10-ranking-not-justified.mma"Listen, I like Alistair Overeem," he told MMAjunkie.com ( www.mmajunkie.com) following UFC 122. "I see him all the time. Cool guy. But there's no urgency on my part to get him into the UFC. "I actually find it hilarious that he's ranked in the top 10 by some of the websites. I find it hilarious. What has he done in MMA to be ranked in the top 10? I'd like somebody here to answer that question. We've got a lot of media guys here; what has Alistair Overeem done to be ranked in the top 10 of mixed martial arts' heavyweight division?" Still, White doesn't understand the high ranking. As he sees it, too much emphasis is placed on Overeem's K-1 kickboxing bouts, which have accounted for four wins in his five fights. "How do you figure because he's such a good K-1 fighter (that) he can parlay that into being a mixed-martial-arts fighter?" an exasperated White asked. "That's what makes the mixed-martial-arts media [expletive] stupid – that they would even rank this guy in the top 10 because he's fighting in K-1. That makes absolutely no [expletive] sense, and I would love to hear somebody make sense of this guy being ranked in the top 10. "Has he fought anybody worth mentioning? Uh, yeah that would help. Guys that fight the top guys in the top 10, three times a year in mixed martial arts – those are the guys that are ranked in the top 10. How bout the fact that he's fighting in K-1, where you just kick and punch? There's no wrestling, there's no this, and there's no that. How does any credible [expletive] MMA guy put him in the top 10 in the heavyweight division? It's hilarious." "You know what this is? Another Fedor thing," he said. "UFC doesn't have him, so we're going to rank him in the top 10 even though the guy is only fighting in [expletive] K-1. "[Expletive] great guy. I like Overeem. I have nothing but respect for him. But it's an absolute [expletive] joke that anybody would rank him in the top 10. And anybody that wants to debate with me, and tell me why Alistair should be ranked, [expletive] fire away. I'm ready. I want to hear it. Can't wait. If on your rankings you have him in the top 10, you should be [expletive] embarrassed." | |

Well that eliminates Lesnar and pretty much every other UFC HW from the top 10.

Well that eliminates Lesnar and pretty much every other UFC HW from the top 10. I wonder what Dana would say about Nick Diaz being in the top 10.

| Translation- "Only my fighters can be the best because their my fighters, any fight outside the ufc is meaningless because it's not in the ufc, I'll say I respect him in hopes he'll sign with me and let me rule over him but if he doesn't sign with me then fuck that guy!" | |

| Well, he beat somebody in the top 10 to get his top 10 spot. Whether you agree with Rogers being top 10 after the Fedor loss or even after knocking AA out that is usually how it works. Just about every website had Rogers where Overeem is now. If people were ranking him top 5 or something but right now Overeem is tops of an area where you got Mir, Big Nog, Bigfoot. His ranking is fair. Anybody ranking him ahead of Cain, Fedor, Brock, Werdum, JDS or Carwin would be ridiculous, but i see no reason to have Overeem out of the top 10 and have somebody like say Roy Nelson in who has not really had the top 10 or even 20 win(though Scuab and Struve might qualify by now as top 20) yet. Barnett has been coasting it for awhile. Arlovski has been struggling. You can make an arguement whether Overeem should be 7,8,9 or 10 but he definetly belongs there. | |

| Typical Dana, overly-hypocritical bs. I think this is what his top ten HW list looks like.
1a Cain 1b Lesnar 3 Carwin 4 JDS 5 Mir 6 Nogueira 7 Couture 8 Schaub 9a Nelson 9b Fedor

| At the same time he has a point, Reem has one notable win in not sure how long, over a very overrated HW. | |

| I see his point. Overeem was a top ten by a lot of folks before Brett Rogers. He does get a "non UFC boost" that a select few fighters per weight class get. Which is a good thing and keeps the sport honest. He's raited so high because like Lesnar was he is a musclefreak and people look at what he can potentially do, not what he has done. | |

true but difference is brock beat 3 top 5 hws in the last 2 years were reem just had his biggest win of his hw career over a guy who couldnt even last in the top 10 for a year. i see lesnars stock declinin from now on since he wont be able to beat the top hw in cain and from now on will most likely face hws outside the top 5 where overeems stock will rise even though he too will most likely be facing guys outside the top 5/10 (until a fedor/werdum match up is made, i doubt he will face anymore top comp).

| Wolf is right on Reem, just like Brock and Carwin, getting big muscle points, as well as potential match up points
And I think Reem should get some props for his K-1 success. Guy has proven himself as a well rounded fighter, so to show very high level striking in K-1 is worthy of MMA cred.
Bunch of guys in the hwy top ten have shakey resume's, but when u look outside the top 10, its pretty clear they deserve to be there. Reem fits that bill.

| LOL at Dana. He says K-1 victories don't mean shit in mma but if he signed Reem the first thing he'd do to talk Reem up is bring up how well he's done in K-1. | |

They also have quality wins though, Reem has a win against Rogers (overrated as fuck) then a bunch of nothing at HW.

| Not that I fully agree or accept this, but it's also predicated on the fact he gave Chuck, Shogun etc everything they wanted until he gassed, presumably from cutting too much weight and fighting well below where he should. He did have a lot of success against top guys...until he lost. But he demonstrated technique. Reem followers believe the reason for those losses has been corrected, and that he is an even more skilled fighter now than he was then.

| Based on who beats who he's probably top 5 but based on victories he's number 10 at most. |

| I think he belongs in the top ten, his striking is arguably the best in the division and he's a fucking living hulk... He hasn't had the victories against top notch comp I'll admit, but I see him steam rolling some top ten guys to be honest. | |

| Rogers was as impressive as any up and comer at the time, and even after his loss to Fedor was still well thought of mostly. The execution of his career is solely based on how Overeem mauled him like a child who had no idea what fighting is. What is strange is how the dismissal of his career is then retroactively used to dismiss Overeem, who sent him careening across the cage - and from the top ten - in the first place. | |
