Alexandra V. Tobias pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Wednesday and remains jailed. The Florida Times-Union reports that she told investigators she was angered because the boy was crying while she was playing the game FarmVille. The paper also reports that she told investigators she shook the boy, smoked a cigarette to compose herself and then shook him again. She will be sentenced in December. Investigators believe the preschooler loaded a cartridge into a 12-gauge semiautomatic shotgun and fired while his mother’s back was turned, the Kitsap Sun reported. She was hit with birdshot in her left side. The incident occurred in a bedroom while the woman was on the phone, according to the newspaper. The woman told investigators she didn't hear the boy load the cartridge or that he had gained access to the gun. The boy’s father, who is also the woman’s boyfriend, had given the boy the cartridge earlier in the day so he could handle it. The boy had expressed curiosity about firearms, according to an investigator's report. The boy's father was not at home at the time of the shooting.

| Another http://www.ktvu.com/news/25628866/detail.htmlSAN PABLO, Calif. -- A mother who abandoned her young son in the front yard of a San Pablo home turned herself in to police early Thursday, authorities said.
San Pablo Police Sgt. Dave Lewellyn told KTVU that the mother called police after seeing media reports about her actions.
“She said she was not a fit mother,” Lewellyn said. “She saw media reports about the child being abandoned and she contacted us. We’re looking at child endangerment charges.”
Lewellyn said the mother was being interviewed at the police station.
Witnesses told police that an African-American woman in her 20s wearing a brown jacket and a yellow backpack left a boy between the ages of 18 months and two-and-a-half years in the yard of a San Pablo around 8 a.m. Wednesday before running into a waiting cab.
“He was a fine little kid. A little black fellow,” said San Pablo resident Junius Wilson. “Saw him across the street over there.
After spotting the little boy, Wilson took him into his home and notified police.
“I picked him up and gave him a little kiss ,” said Wilson.
After arriving and assessing the situation, the authorities went to neighbors asking if anyone recognized the child.
“We're going to find out who did this,” said San Pablo Police Lt. Ken Bay.
Bays said the boy didn't speak clearly and can't answer questions about his name. The toddler was wearing a Dallas Cowboys shirt and was missing a shoe when he was found.
“Obviously if the child only had one shoe on, they were in a hurry to get away,” said Bay.
Bay said it appeared the mother was likely familiar with the neighborhood and picked the semi-secluded yard deliberately
“That was an opportunity to walk the boy down a breezeway around a corner out of sight of the cabdriver then flee in the cab and drive off ,” said Bay
Residents in immediate area who were approached by police said they didn't recognize the toddler from the neighborhood.
"He asked me if I had any grand kids and I said 'Yes I do,'" said neighbor Linda Oliver. "He went and got the little boy and I've never seen the little boy before."
Most said if the child lived in the neighborhood, they would know his face and likely his family by name.

| http://www.ktvu.com/news/25758168/detail.htmlOAKLAND, Calif. -- Distraught over marital problems, an armed man held his daughter hostage on the Bay Bridge during rush hour early Thursday morning, halting traffic on the major artery from the East Bay to San Francisco until police took him into custody an hour later.
California Highway Patrol Sgt. Trent Cross said Craig Carlos-Valentino, 51, was extremely angry when he called 911 around 7:10 a.m. to say he was going to blow up the bridge that was bumper-to-bumper at the time with morning commuters.
“He called our dispatcher to say he was going to blow up the Bay Bridge,” Cross said. “He was angry and agitated…We know there were some personal issues going on his life…He’s going through some marital issues and some financial issues.”
CHP officers rushed to the scene and isolate the Carlos-Valentino’s SUV. Westbound traffic was brought to a halt, triggering a traffic jam that extended for miles. An average of 280,000 motorists use the Bay Bridge each day.
“Officers isolated the incident,” Cross said. “We shut down the bridge to ensure no one was in harm’s way…He also had his 16-year-old daughter in the car and …(released) her during the time of this incident.”
He added that the teenager was in protective custody.
Carlos-Valentino got out of the vehicle and began talking to police negotiators on his cell phone. At one point, the man walked to the edge of the bridge, put his leg over the railing and threatened to jump.
Instead of jumping, the Antioch man surrendered to the CHP about 15 minutes later.
“It was very unstable,” Cross said of the negotiations. “It was much a situation in which you were dealing with someone who is very angry, very upset because of the issues that he is going through in his personal life…It ended pretty well. No one was injured, no one was hurt and he didn’t jump off the bridge.”
Cross credited the negotiators with the outcome.
“It was the work of the negotiators,” the CHP officer said. “People talking with him, trying to get him to realize what he was going was not going to help the situation. It’s sad and unfortunate that someone would go to this extent… We are going to try to get him some help.”
The incident triggered a commuter nightmare. Fortunately, Thursday was Veteran’s Day and traffic was lighter than normal.
Once the man was in custody, the CHP kept the bridge shut down for nearly an hour as it was swept to make sure it was safe again.
“No explosives were found in the vehicle,” Cross said. “What we do is we take our time with these kinds of things. You don’t to rush into something like this because if there is explosive inside the vehicle it could cause harm to the officers and any innocent people in the area.”
The bomb squad checked Carlos-Valentino's SUV for explosives and then the car was removed from the bridge at 8:30 a.m. Commuters were finally able to drive across the bridge beginning at 9 a.m.
Carlos-Valentino was arrested on suspicion of felony criminal threats, felony endangerment and brandishing a firearm, and is being booked into San Francisco County Jail, Cross said.

I am starting a 'fight club' for anyone who wants to join. So far we're going to meet in my backyard, unless someone has a basement we can use. We can use gloves if someone brings them but I don't have any. I'm not looking to put anyone in the hospital, I just need to fight someone so if your interested help me out.
Haha. I'd show up and try to armlock this fool.

| http://rivals.yahoo.com/highschool/blog/prep_rally/post/Teen-misses-senior-season-by-birthday-12-hours-t?urn=highschool-291888Teen misses senior season by birthday 12 hours too early By Cameron Smith Adam Sisson is a high school senior. The teenager has spent his entire life dreaming of his senior seasons in high school sports, where he expected to be a star for the Eastern Montgomery (Va.) High football, basketball and baseball teams. Then, just days before his final high school year began, Sisson was given a shock: He was told that he was too old to play in Virginia high school sports by exactly 12 hours. As a result, the senior -- who turned 19 on July 31, the cut-off date to be within an age deemed eligible -- has spent his fall semester on the football sidelines and in courtrooms, trying to challenge the Virginia High School League statutes in hopes of re-gaining athletic eligibility for at least some of his final high school year. [Related: High school team on probation because of uniforms] According to WSET, WDBJ and the Roanoke Times, the senior had hoped to regain eligibility in time to play in at least one of Eastern Montgomery's football games, but a temporary restraining order filed by Sisson's father, Allen, to get the senior back on the field in time for the undefeated Mustangs' state semifinal game over the weekend was delayed Friday until Dec. 10, a date which officially ruled him out of the remainder of Eastern Montgomery's football season. At the heart of Sisson's dispute against the state athletic association is the belief that the senior is being persecuted against for a learning disability. Sisson was forced to repeat the third grade because of that disability, which he and his father claim is justification for him to receive a unique hardship waiver that would allow him to continue playing despite his age. Throughout the fall season, Sisson has sat on the sidelines in his No. 20 jersey, a part of the team essentially sidetracked into what would amount to a healthy scratch in hockey. The 19-year-old has practiced with the team, and was confident he could fit right in if he'd been granted the opportunity to play. Since he wasn't given that chance, Sisson said he will keep cheering the Mustangs on from the sidelines, a fate which he and his father greeted with mixed emotions. "Even if I don't play I'll still be on that team as a champion," Adam Sisson told WSET-TV. "No matter what. I'm still part of it, the team tells me... which I pretty much am. But I want to be a big part of it." "I'm a little disappointed. But now we don't have to worry about the team being jeopardized, so that's OK," Allen Sisson told the ABC affiliate. Now the duo will await the scheduled injunction hearing later this month, with the hope that Sisson will be given a chance to play on the Eastern Montgomery basketball team, at least until the state can challenge his application for a hardship waiver again. "I think anybody would do the same thing for their son," Allen Sisson told WSET. "I'm fighting for my son... me and my wife both." So if he is tooold to play high school sports per the school board, then why isn't he too old to attend the high school? | |
