Ben Askren vs Johnny Hendricks...who wins?

Who wins this matchup of elite wrestlers who are undefeated in MMA? Ben is 6-0 and Hendricks 8-0. Both 2 time National Champs if I remember correctly.

not sure, i dont think i have ever seen hendricks fight. I've only watched Askren a couple times. I wasnt overwhelmed by anything other than his ground skills.

I guess it'd come down to who has the better standup.

Really? He won 2 fights in the WEC and 3 now in the UFC including a win over Amir.

Askren would take him down at will.

youve seen him fight, he just appears at first as a lesser Jon Fitch clone. When he is actually probably better than Fitch ultimately.

Why do you think that? Hendricks is a very accomplished wrestler himself. I think it would be a great test for both fighters. I know you are riding high on Askren right now but I think if you take a second to cool off and look objectively you would see it as a good test for both fighters.

Oh I didn't know this guy was really a two time winner. Shit son. I still think Askren is a better wrestler but at this level other skills would come into play. Hendricks has a headstart on Askren, so he'd be a smart pick.

Yeah I think both are 4 time All-Americans, both 2 time National Champs. Hendricks does have the head start and probably a more polished MMA fighter right now. But he is 8-0 and Askren is 6-0. I think it is a very interesting matchup between similar fighters. I think they are close to the same age as well. I would be interested in this matchup just to see what happened.

Almost exactly a year apart in age. Hendricks is about 14 months older.

Askren won at 174lbs while Hendricks won at 165lbs. Not sure if that little bit matters.

Hendricks in the fights I've seen has better hands actually. Askren's worst matchup besides of course even more polished champion wrestlers like Kos or GSP.

Thats funny too because Hendricks looks like the bigger guy.

More muscle tone that is for sure. Both guys listed at 5'10 on Sherdog. Maybe Hendricks just cut more weight in college. Maybe he added more weight after leaving wrestling, not sure.

Hendrix because he's in the UFC.

I would go with Hendrix because the grappling is a draw while Hendrix can put people in danger on the feet.

I think Hendricks has regressed a little since the Sadollah victory, he also isnt Funky enough to beat Askren

Hendricks has a good enough base to keep Askren from dominating with wrestling and way better hands

I can't say anything Hendricks is from Oklahoma lol. But I think it is a very interesting matchup.

I like Hendricks, but he's still kind of a mystery to me...word is he looked like an unwiped asshole in his last bout with TJ Grant..Grant was deducted a point for groin shots and Hendricks still barely squeaked by with only a majority decision...meaning Grant would have more than likely won the fight...but who knows the extent of the groin shots. I'm obviously never been impressed with Amir so i don't put much stock in that. I think Askren beat the shit out of a bad motherfucker last night. I got Ben.

I thought about ranking Askren, but really, Hendricks has the better career so far and a bunch of UFC wins, granted they're all over relative nobodies who wouldn't beat either Hornbuckle or Askren. He also shows more rounded skills.

Hendricks is tough to grasp, I saw him fight a few times locally and he along with ROsholt had trouble with suspect local talent. He is a big 170 and one of my friends trained at a gym with him when Hendricks was in HS. He said kid was very strong especially for age. I imagine he has full grown old man strength along with great wrestling and heavy hands. So I am still asking myself why I am not overly impressed
