Erik Morales vs Vicente Escobedo in the works

Word is that Mexican ring legend Erik “El Terrible” Morales (49-6, 34 KOs) could make the next step in his comeback against former U.S. Olympian Vicente Escobedo (22-2, 14 KOs) on July 17 at the Estadio Caliente in Morales’ hometown of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Sources report that the bout would be for the WBC International welterweight title won by Morales against Nicaraguan José Alfaro in March. No contract has been signed at this point, but things are far enough along that press conferences in Los Angeles, Tijuana and Mexico City are being arranged for the bout, which would be televised in Mexico by Televisa.

This doesn't sound like a good fight for Morales.

I think morales will win but I dont think he needs to fight anymore. There isnt nothing else for him to prove. He has always been 1 of my favorite fighters but he has been done for a while now.

Morales and Barerra are both shot, both fighting above their best weights (in Morales's case well above it). Neither will retire. One or both is going to end up taking some serious damage before they finally decide to walk away for good.
