| The only reasonable reason for releasing him is if he requested the release.
If not, and it's a money thing, go ahead and cut fighters who deserve it in the process.

| He was fitched. And people are overstating the fact that is was a money issue. If Fitch and Okami were both exciting and made decent money, they could go 0-5 and not be cut. I don't agree with this at all, but if you are boring and make decent money you will always be on the chopping block after a loss. Shields better watch himself....
Also I highly doubt Bellator will sign Okami, which is the same reason they wouldn't sign Fitch. They don't Okami as their champion, they rather have an exciting guy like Storm.
Expect Okami vs David Branch for the WSOF middle weight title early next year guys. | |

| He's in discussions with World Series of Fighting. It will be a big pay cut though imo. They won't make the Fitch mistake again with the salary.

| It certainly isn't any kind of cost cutting. He makes 42k a fight and is 2-1 in his last 3 fights.
Lombard is 1-2 in his last 3 fights and makes 300k. if it was cost cutting Lombard would have been gone. | |

| Im gonna guess that despite his top 10 ranking, they think he's tired...just like Fitch. He's been around in the UFC for years and pretty much at the same level since he started in the UFC, he's not an exciting fighter(though i wouldnt go so far as to call him boring), and he just got destroyed. They don't want Okami there to beat guys that they have plans for and they can't promote him as a contender anymore...and he makes over 40K per which isnt a lot for Zuffa but a lot when they see it *GASP* going into the pocket of a fighter. | |
