| That could not have played out better for SF. Very good, but as boring as ever.
I bet Dana can't wait to sell GSP vs Jake.

| i had kampmann winning 29-28
shields got a lot of dominant positions......... and did absolutely nothing with them. I think Kampmann probably came the closest to getting a sub too. If only he let his hands go he probably would have got a late tko

| I did as well. The judge who gave it 30-27 for Shields should be fired. | |

| The cut hurt him and he's still a top fighter, I'm sure SF will be happy when Diaz and Gil follow their teammate. | |

SF let shields go, pushed him out the door really. That won't happen with those 2. Certainly not while they are champs.

| They won't have a choice, they'll just go, and I'm sure SF didn't pursue Jake heavily, after they realized there was nothing they could do to keep him they said fuck it. | |

| Shields looks terrible. I saw him go 5 rounds against Henderson and was getting his ass knocked around early in the fight. By the fifth round he looked a lot fresher then than he did last night in the second round.
The weight cut really affected him.

Uh, champions clause, those guys have em, shields did not. and SF had a one fight option on Shields that they declined to pick up. they ended negotiations b4 the end of the matching period. Dude's boring, they let him walk.

| Shields had a contract without a champions clause because he wanted to be able to leave EliteXC if he chose to. The other guys have champions clauses. | |

| GSP or Kos will maul this guy. I almost want to deduct points from him when he attempts to strike, it's embarrassing. He is high ranked for winning only. If he fights John Fitch then... | |

| Shields is overrated. Great grappler, great laynpray, shitty MMA fighter. It's an embarrassment that Hendo lost to him. | |

Yeah he did, and it showed. Still, Shields shouldn't have been able to control him like that.

| Jake has an awesome submission game. Not everyone can be sub'd though. When you're a submission fighter and you can't get a submission because of the sub defense of your opponet all of a sudden everyone labels you a LnP'r. Silliness. | |

| I'm sure they would have liked to keep him but it seems he wanted a whole lot more money than he would ever make back for them and he would have lost at MW sooner rather than later...probably to Jacare. No need to break the bank on somebody who won't fight the best guy at his natural weight class and headlined the biggest main card failure on Showtime and CBS. Strikeforce made the right move by letting him walk. Jacare won the MW title in a randomly generated vacant title fight just like Shields.

My guess is that it was Cecil.

| Shields had a back injury during camp and it effected his weight cut and the way the fight played out. I'm giving him a pass in this fight because of that but we'll see in his next fight for sure. I don't think he has the tools needed to beat GSP though.
After that fight he may not get the title shot, it wouldn't be the first time Dana changed his mind after a fight.

and SF had a one fight option on Shields that they declined to pick up. they ended negotiations b4 the end of the matching period. Dude's boring, they let him walk. They declined that option pre-Hendo fight, assuming Hendo would smoke him, that didn't happen obviously, they then pursued and wanted Jake but pulled out because it was obvious they had no chance and he was going to the UFC. And I was more just saying how eventually these guys will all find themselves in the UFC, Jacare, Reem, Nick and Gil all expressed the feeling of wanting to fight in the UFC again or someday, partly to get a reaction. Here's SFs Champions Clause: "The initial term of this Agreement shall commence upon the date of this Agreement is signed by Fighter (Effective Commencement Date”) and shall expire two years from the date that Fight er signs this Agreement or two years from the first bout in which Fight er fights hereunder whichever is the later date, unless terminated or unless extended or suspended in which case this Agreement shall expire no later than seven years from the Effective commencement date hereof. Fighter grants EXPLOSION the option and the right but not the obligation to extend the term of this Agreement (“extended term”) upon the same terms and conditions except as hereinafter set forth for an additional one year if Fight er at any time during the term hereof holds or held a Strikeforce Championship Title"

| That clause doesn't matter. Jake was on his EliteXC deal. | |

| He needs to go in the gym and work on his striking, he is not going to be able to just take the elite 170 fighters to the ground and do what he wants, and how the fuck do you cut 20lbs in a day, I have been trying to cut 10 lbs and and the scale just stays in the same place even with cardio clean diet and everything else, that is impressive and fucking dumb at the same time, no wonder he looked like a zombie at the weigh in. | |

| He should stay at 185 and fight the Silva-Belfort winner. |
