| Scientists are said to have discovered minute particles that may contain extraterrestrial life from outside Earth.
An analysis conducted by electronic microscopes shows the particles containing characteristics that are different from dust or aluminium powder samples already collected, according to Japanese reports.
The particles were believed to have originated from Earth, the Yomiuri newspaper and Kyodo News agency reported.
Officials from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) are expected to detail the find later on Wednesday. No further details were available.
Japan's space agency has already identified "minute particles" of what its scientists believed were asteroid dust collected by the probe.
Scientists hope the asteroid samples could help reveal secrets about the origins of the solar system.
The spacecraft returned to Earth in the Australian outback in June after a 3-billion-mile journey that took more than seven years.
Hayabusa, which means "falcon" in Japanese, was launched in 2003 and became the first probe to land on the surface of an asteroid and gather particles from the space rock.
After spending around 30 minutes on the asteroid it then made the long trip home again.
It failed to fire a projectile into the surface of the asteroid, to kick up dust that could then be collected, but Japanese scientists hope sufficient particles were kicked up when it touched down to be collected.
Despite numerous technical glitches – including a malfunctioning gyroscope and a fuel leak – experts are hopeful that Hayabusa has achieved its goals.
JAXA officials are conducting the lengthy examination of the Hayabusa's multilayer sample canister together with researchers from Nasa, the American space agency.
A JAXA spokesman declined to comment. Final results are not expected for several months.

| A breakthrough will happen in ten years or less. My daughter won't be in college yet when aliens become a proven reality. | |

| You believe in Adam and Eve..............
And Aliens don't necessarily have to be more intelligent beings then Humans flying in space ships near the speed of light. Aliens simply refers to life with origins not of Earth, on the laws on Chemistry is highly highly probable life exists outside our Planet. We and all life on Earth may actually be alien in origin, carried on a comet or astroid frozen in ice. | |

That means until they find evidence it means jack shit. |

I'm not trying to convince you god exists. You're trying to convince me Aliens exist. |

| No there is proof of religion. Proof of what other superstitions evolved into Judaism and then Christianity. I mean we can trace these faiths all the way back. There is no rational reason to believe in them at all. | |

| You can't be convinced. You have a set, religious based opinion and that is that. Do what LA said and keep your god fearing ass out of these discussions. Maybe time for a mohommad signature? | |
